Adele Laurie Blue Adkins lived in South London with her mum,

Where at age sixteen wrote "Hometown Glory," one

Of the "flat tunes" that comprise "19," her debut album.

Adele bares her young soul, tells us where she comes from:

I like it in the city when two worlds collide

You get people and the governments

     Everybody taking different sides....

Shows that we ain't gonna stand shit

     Shows that we are united

.

Adele attended the Brit School of Performing Arts, and is

Accomplished on the guitar, piano, bass, and percussion.

Her work gained rapid commercial success comparable to the Beatles.

Adele is a contralto, who at fifteen studied Ella Fitzgerald for

Scales and acrobatics, Etta James for passion, and Roberta Flack for control.

She was dubbed the new Amy Winehouse by the British press,

Which Adele scorns as lazy, saying "We're a gender, not a genre."

.

As Adele earns her multiple Grammys, The Critics' Choice prize

At the Brit Awards, an Oscar for the movie score "Skyfall,"

Her audience is wooed by her passionate vocals,

Lyrics that we feel because they are so very real:

I'd go hungry, I'd go black and blue,

And I'd go crawling down the avenue,

     You know there's nothing I wouldn't do

To make you feel my love.

.

In her mega hit, "Chasing Pavements," Adele hopes

That this could finally be it, and implores:

     Should I give up,

Or should I just keep chasing pavements?

     Even if it leads nowhere

Or would it be a waste,

Even if I knew my place,

     Should I leave it there?

.

Then, Adele turned out her "21" album, a group of

Songs reflecting the breakup of her "rubbish" relationship.

This work earned immediate acclaim, surpassing "19."

Its lyrics range from rage to revenge to despair,

With abundant images of flame, fire, and tears:

There's a fire starting in my heart

Reaching a fever pitch and it's bring me out to dark

Finally, I can see you crystal clear

Go ahead and sell me out and I'll lay your ship bare

.

Adele's soulful vocals in "Rumor Has It" are punctuated with pounding drumbeats:

She is half your age, but I'm guessing that's the reason that you stay.

.

We love a good "torch" song, and Adele's bluesy voice resounds in "One and Only:"

I dare you to let me be your, your one and only

I promise I'm worthy to hold in your arms

So come on and give me a chance

To prove that I'm the one who can

Walk that mile until the end starts

.

Adele is a gifted artist who has become an inspiration to the young-

She took her passion and diligently climbed to international stardom.

She is comfortable with her full figure, refusing to obsess about weight.

Now a young mother, she is a bit embarrassed about her cheekiness at the Brit Awards:

Annoyed at the interruption in her emotional acceptance speech,

About how proud she was to be flying the flag for Britain,

The young star's microphone was cut, and to the host, she flipped the bird!
