malaya;

"No, not really." I mumbled a response into the phone, shuffling through my drawers for a hair tie.

"C'mon, how do you not like strawberry ice cream?" Hayes asked, sceptical at my reply.

"Um...I'm an alien from Mars? So when are we going to the mall?" I asked, hearing a knock on his door.

"Um...I'm going to have to cancel, Mal. Jax is here." he muttered, sending an unwanted churn in my stomach.

"Oh, okay, I'll just-"

"Yeah, yeah. Bye." he hung up, leaving my mouth agape. Feeling the need to cry, I raked a hand through my locks while biting my lip. I should be used to this, it's already happened numerous times.

Once upon a time or should I say one week ago, me and Hayes were an inseparable pair of best friends, but then Jax, the rich girl from Braxford, came tearing down our friendship with non-stop visits to our house or whining when he was on the phone with me, not even thirty seconds, and not her.

Looking down at my mistake of an outfit, I pulled on some new clothes, deciding to go over Hayes's to see Sky or Nash. Maybe Maya was already there.

"Mom, going over to Hayes's, don't miss me!" I shouted into the kitchen before scampering off to the door

"Mom, going over to Hayes's, don't miss me!" I shouted into the kitchen before scampering off to the door. "Kay, be good, hon!" I walked out the door after rolling my eyes, walking down the sidewalk.

"Mal!" Maya sang when she saw me, embracing my body into a hug. She just got back from the beach with Nash. My sister was in love with Nash. I've never seen a cuter couple than them.

"Hey, boo." I winked playfully at her.

"My brother is with the one and only Lax." Nash muttered, disapproving.

"Jax." I corrected. He grunted in response, slinging an arm around Maya and kissing her cheek. I gulped at the situation, tongues being involved. Rolling my eyes, I leaned against Nash's car and watching a few teens pass on skateboards.

"Malaya, what are you doing out here?" Elizabeth asked, setting down snacks for the couple.

"Oh, just visiting my sister." I mumbled, watching Nash's lipstick stained about to spill what I was really doing, but I sent him a look.

"Oh, well Hayes is just with a friend in his room, there's enough room for a pretty face." she winked before walking back in. I played with the hem of my shirt, wishing that playboy in there was with someone that cares about him and not his fame, in other words, me.

"Ever think about telling him how you feel?" Maya asked, watching as I kept looking at Hayes who was sitting a couple tables away with a few of his friends.

"Ever think about refilling my cup?" I mocked, shoving my only ice filled cup in her chest. She muttered an insult before getting up and making her way to the Chick-Fi-La section of the food court.

I shoved a waffle fry in my mouth before texting my mom back. Yeah, my mother, one of the few contacts in my phone since I've only befriended a few boys other then Hayes. I just couldn't make a lot of female friends in school. Luckily, it was summer.

"Mal, hey." I looked up at one of Hayes's friend, specifically Troy.

"Um..hello." I looked back down at my phone.

"I wanted to tell you that Hayes likes you and is too much of a pussy to admit it. Would you give him your honors of taking you on a date?"

My fingers stopped scrolling through my Twitter, too afraid to look up at him, I blushed furiously. "Uh-I...what?"

"It was a joke, calm it, Mal." he laughed, but then looked back done at me, "Oh...oh! You like him, don't you?" His grin caused me to blush more.

"N-no! You just caught me off guard." I lied, finding no other lame excuse. He winked, "I'll keep it a secret." And then he was gone, sitting back down with his friends.

Oh, my gosh! He didn't believe the lie I made up. Please don't tell Hayes, please do not tell him. Taking deep breaths to calm myself, I sighed in relief when Maya showed. "Sorry, long line." she apologized.

"You have no idea." I muttered under my breath, feeling her questioning looking burning holes through my head. "Later."

She understood, beginning to talk about the beach again, leaving my mind in some other universe.
