Fear.
What is there to be afraid of?
For Alphas, fear isn't something they usually feel, as ones in power tend never to be afraid.
For Omegas... What wasn't there to be afraid of?
There were many things for an Omega to fear in their day-to-day life. For most Omegas, daring to enter the Alpha territories by themselves would tend to strike fear, as many unfavorable outcomes could happen.
Yet, Izuku did that. Izuku wasn't like the others. There wasn't much he feared that normal Omegas would. Fear wasn't something he felt a lot.
However, slowly walking down the halls toward the principal's office... That did make him feel fearful, yet he couldn't quite pinpoint a reason as to why.
He's only heard stories and rumors of the principal in passing, and nothing he ever heard was positive. As far as he knew, everyone on campus, including the professors, feared him. The way he stared, the smile he always wore, his way of talking, and how he presented himself just made everyone uncomfortable.
Now, Izuku was used to having a figure in his life that smiled all the time. All Might always wore a smile to put those he was saving at ease. It was a smile that felt comforting and made those who were in the presence of it feel safe. On the contrary, the principal's smile seemed more sinister and made those in the presence of it feel scared and in danger.
But why?
If he'd ever done anything bad, he couldn't be the principal of the most pristine college with the best hero course, right? This was the same college the symbol of peace attended! All Might wouldn't speak so highly of it or recommend his pupil to attend if the principal was evil!
So perhaps, he was just an unsettling-looking fella, but he was actually very nice. Many professional heroes appear as though they could be villains. Never judge a book by its cover.
Yet, as he kept reassuring himself over and over again in his head, Izuku still felt uneasy as he got closer to the office.
Once he had arrived, it was as though something or someone had known he was there, as the door opened on its own before he had a chance to knock on it.
"Please come in, make yourself comfortable." While his words weren't malice in any way, his voice still made Izuku feel goosebumps all over his body.
He did as he was told without a peep, entering the office with the door closing on its own behind him. He would've questioned it but he didn't have time to think about it much longer as the principal turned around and began to speak.
"Midoriya Izuku, I'm quite fascinated by you. You're an interesting case, indeed."
The man towered over him. Izuku already could tell he was tall when he saw him standing beside the teachers earlier, but now being face to face with him was only more unnerving. It didn't help that he was looking down at him with those red eyes and smile everyone agreed felt discomforting.
"H-How so?" Izuku made the courage to speak, as it seemed the principal wasn't going to get to the point until he did so.
"Isn't it obvious? An Omega, despite all odds, enters the hero course. It sounds like a fairy tale, does it not?"
