A/N: Sorry this one is so long. I just got to writing and didn’t want to stop I guess. It gets better as it goes so, hopefully you finish it all? Should I break it up?

After studying for a few hours, I made my way to the make shift breakfast table set up in the arena. There was everything you would want for breakfast, eggs, toast, sausage, the works.

“Hey Jayson.” It was Becca.

“Hey, hows the magic working out for you?” I asked

“Oh, I’ve tried a few things, but nothing worth mentioning. You? You look a little frustrated.” She walked up beside me and started filling her plate.

“Oh, just a lot going on right now. Don’t worry though, I’ll be fine in a few days.” I had no idea whether I was lying or not.

“Alright then. So have you met a lot of new friends here? I think its amazing, I just wish it happened under more pleasant circumstances.” She finished filling her plate and took a seat at a nearby table. I grabbed one last sausage and sat next beside her.

“Yea, crazy how it all happened so fast. Really though, you’re the only person I’ve met out of all these new people. I kinda got a head start on the training so I’m alone in my tent you know?” I gave a half hearted chuckle.

“Oh, I noticed you got into it the other day. When I tried to go in, the zipper wouldn’t go down.” I gave her a puzzled look.

“Must be protected by magic, I unlocked it yesterday. What was the point of having a key.” I gave another laugh as Becca smiled at me.

“Well I should be right behind you, I look forward to seeing you in there. Take a look.” Becca got out of her seat and closed her eyes. Her body gave a soft blue glow as she concentrated on her magic. She then slowly stretched out her palm and I watched as the blue aura concentrated around her hand.

“Whoa, what are you doing?” That wasn’t exactly how my ball of magic formed.

“I don’t know, all I know is, this is what happens when I try to cast a magic ball. Look at this thought,” She grabbed her plate and I watched as the glow slowly consumed the plate and everything on it until there was nothing left, “Isn’t that crazy.

“Yea! Did you tell Colton about this?” I was still a little shocked.

“Yea, he called me a ‘Tainted One’, said that I was different. But not in a bad way. Though he didn’t say it was good. He said he’d get back to me when he had time.” She let her magic recede back into her body.

“That’s exciting. Maybe he will let you study with me. Since we both are different. I started early and you need special training. Something to look forward to anyways.” She smiled and sat back down next to me.

“Well, seeings how you don’t have any breakfast left. I think we should get back to studying. Normally I’d love to stay and talk, especially with you. But right now I’m finding it hard to concentrate on anything else. I’m not trying to be mean.” I got up out of my seat and put my plate in the dirty dish pile mounting at the end of the table.

“Oh you fine. Really. I should be off as well. Not a good time to fall behind in my studies now is it?” She smiled and gave me a quick hug before turning bright red and walking away.

As bad as a day I was having, she sure made it a lot better. I couldn’t stop thinking about the hug all the way to the tent. Why would she hug me? Was it a British thing? Once I got into the tent, my thoughts quickly changed. Colton was sitting at the table with an unfamiliar man. He was a bit older than me, I’d say twenty five. He looked a bit taller than myself, brown hair and extremely fit. He was the kind of person you see that when you see how fit they are, you feel lazy.
