“I'll be outside” She said to her friends then stepped outside of the cafe.
It had been a while since she last met her friends. Nine years to be exact. They were so young and youthful. They're still young. Just nine years older.
She looked at her friends again. Her ‘girlies’. Now they all had that ‘womanly’ air around them. She smiled at her ‘womenlies’.
She took a step back to take in the surroundings. They were at a cafe which was a cafe by day and a bar at night.
You could see everything inside through the glass walls.
The warm lights, the wooden tables & chairs, the waiters and waitresses rushing from table to table and that one man army, the accountant/manager/owner, at the bar table managing everything.
Her cellphone displayed 5.37 pm.
It is the perfect time to blend the aromatic coffee with the smell of whiskey.
'Wait… 5.37???'
She looked at her cellphone again.
'We've been here for three hours already? No wonder I needed fresh air.' She thought.
The gathering and the meeting... they're not her thing. She’d rather be stuck inside her room forever.
But it was her girlies… oops...her womenlies get-together. That was the only reason she was there.
Just as she took another step back, she bumped into something. Or rather... someone...
“Oops” a manly voice could be heard. “Sorry” and then “Oomph”.
Before she even turned around she heard a body fall on the ground. She didn't even need to check. That body was already inside her peripheral vision.
She turned around anyway.
There, lying face down, was a rather long body of a man in a suit.
Time stood still.
Instead of getting up or even trying to get up, he just stayed like that. Face down, on the ground.
She suppressed her laughter and looked around. A few people were throwing glances at them here and there.
She noticed his bag which had flown two feet further than where he laid. She picked up the bag and crouched at his side.
He slowly turned his head to look at her.
“I knew it was a witch.” He muttered. She grinned.
“Need a little help?" she asked softly.
“No... I- I'll get up in a few seconds.” He said, closing his eyes. She nodded her head in understanding.
She had once experienced such a fall herself. It was embarrassing. But more than that, it was painful. Instead of getting up & moving, she had also given in to the Earth and laid down for a while. She'd only stood up when a stray dog had raised its hind leg right in front of her face.
She sat down on the ground, cross-legged, holding his bag on her lap.
After a minute or so he pulled himself up and sat cross-legged adjacent to her.
