Chapter 1

n our fair times there had been princes and princesses
knight and handmaiden
Kings and queens
SQuires and madens
Its typical living these days unfortunately for one knight it was not moving away from the kingdom he knew sounded unpleasant what was the worst part of it leaving his beloved behind a lady in waiting her name was abigil
The young knight was abit disappointed things were not working in his favor but he knew he loved her and that they would see each other soon as fate planed it going to school with a mix of different heirs or workers or upbringing was a challenge but the young knight knew one thing staying away from any female interaction was one of them he was already bethorth to someone and even the slightest idea of not being to that madien broke his heart which he found easy to avoid women ... no one would talk to him until one day sitting under a tree after knight guard practice that would all change
The young knight sat against a wall waiting for the dismissal of the class when suddenly he felt a tap on his shoulder the knight turned around and there she was small dark hair girl
The knight looked at her confused as he noticted the girl calling over to a group of people she turned to speak to him
"Hello" said the young lady
"Hello?" The knight said with confusion in his voice
The girl caught this confusion
"Oh im adriana"she said "i noticed u here all alone and just wanted to see if youd like to be friends"
The knight raised a confused look on his face
What in gods name is this young girl doing he analyzed her certain she couldn't be a princess no no must have been a lady in waiting or a hand maiden like his bethorthed
"Shouldn't u be off figuring out how to hem princess clothes" he said
The girl giggled "why would i do that?" She asked
"Arent u a handmaiden" he asked
She giggled again
Her giggle infectious seemed like colors transformed when she did
"Well i do know how to hem but i am not a handmaiden" she said
"A squire then?" He asked
The group behind the young girl let out a laugh
The knight looked confused but annoyed at last this conversation had gon on far to long for his liking
"Whatever you may be im sure its at the bottom right where im at" the knight said walking passed her
The other girl in the group abit round with short hair spoke out "you should learn to bite your tounge around a princess"

The knight froze
That could not be he didnt just say that to a ... princess without turing he said
"And what house would that princess belong to?"
Before the short girl could answer the other girl grabbed her shoulder like a signal saying i can speak for myself
"A house" the young girl answered
The knight laughed
The girl rolled her eyes
"And what house of you? A knight studying to be a knight certainly u must belong to a house" the girl asked
"From a house" the knight reply
"Hm perhaps ur house will send u to work for my house one day" the young girl smirked
The knight laughed "i doubt my house would ever" he said "besides im bethored to another" the young girl fluster but not willong to back out of a challenge she continued
"Oh forgive me i was not interested in wedding a knight like yourself good day to you" she said walking off
The knight kept walking not caring to glance but something in him thought the girl was pretty funny in an odd way she was cunning sassy something hes never seen in princess before of course he had only been around hand maiden but for a princess to act like that he turned around just to see where she had gone disappeared too he smirk when he saw her giggleing with her short friend
She had defended the princess so much must be a lady in waiting to the princess
He thought to himself still he couldn't help but chuckled
What was her name ?
He thought to himself
Ah yes adriana
He answered himself

Lunch time was abit of a dread for the young knight with no friends and no betrothed he sat alone for mostly all of it

As he leaned against the class building he sat there eating an apple what could possibly be worse than this he thought to himself

When suddenly he hears a voice
"Excuse me " the voice said
He looks in the direction of where the voice was
Adriana staring at him
He rolled his eyes
"Princess what do i owe this pleasure" he asked
"Please adriana fine..." she said "i came to apologize"
The knight raised his eyebrow
"Oh?" He said
"Yes will you see our encounter wasnt very friendly and polite and its not very proper to throw my title around like that" she said
The knight chuckled
The princess rolled her eyes but at last continued
" and as i want to show u how true the apology is i would like to invite you to lunch with us" she said
She smiled
He looked at her for what felt like an eternity to her
"Well come on then" she said
Extending her hand
"What did u not understand when i said i was bothered to another" he asked
The princess quickly took her hand back
"Excuse me?" She asked
"Well yes im betrothed to another" the knight said rolling his eyes "honestly dont they teach you that when one is betrothed there not for your entertainment" he said
The princess took a step forward closer to him
"If that was the case then maybe you didnt hear me properly i would never be interested in being betrothed to a knight such as yourself and beside your still to young to have a betrothed everyone knows a knight cant ask for a hand until they are finished with schooling and are accepted into a house" she said "is that not what they teach you "
"Were together " he said standing up "and as soon as i finish here, betrothed so whats it matter to you" he asked
The princess stood up as well
"Very well then" she said dusting her dress off "i hope your betrothed is worth it" she said
