Despite the fact that the clock showed only four in the morning, she felt refreshed from sleep. The night had been short: she had fallen asleep just a few hours ago. The room, filled with silence, Alex sat on the edge of the bed, gathering her thoughts. Looking at the table, scattered sheets, electronic devices - all testified to sleepless nights and hard work.
Creating the product was much more than just a job. It was a passion that consumed her entirely. The idea of artificial intelligence, which could change the world, gave her no peace. She not only wanted to bring her vision to life but also to show its details in practice.
In the darkness of the room, illuminated only by the soft light of the laptop screen, Alex found friend's name in the contact list and pressed the call button. The sound of the dial tone was short, and soon a familiar voice was heard.
"Oh, Alex, you're not sleeping either," came the sleepy and surprised voice on the other end of the line.
"Not sleeping, as you can see," she replied with a slight smirk, wrapping herself in a warm blanket. "In the morning, useful thoughts usually come to mind, and there's no escaping that."
Early London outside the window was cool and even a bit drafty.
"That's why it's easier to work," Zack continued. "My schedule differs from the office one only in that you spend the whole day at work, among sweaty bodies and noise. At home, on the contrary, you sleep through the day, and in the evening you sit down to write code and develop something for the client."
He found his element in the night silence and calm. "By the way, the chip for the ear is ready, we've prepared several shades for it, if you don't mind," Zack shared his point of view, understanding that he would be given guidance in this complex world and directed in the right direction.
"Now we can afford to relax our backs a bit and lie down," Alex said, imagining how nice it would be to rest after long hours of work.
"You're right about the back, I haven't slept so many days on the bed. What about the interface of the application itself, were you able to refine it properly?"
"Rest won't hurt us. I want to look at the interface on the chip itself and test it, so I can pick it up from you, although you live so far away. I'll have to take the metro."
"Don't worry, I'll drop by you during the day when I have business in the center. If you need something specific, let me know?" Zack said confidently.
"And if our product makes a strong impression, then what?" Alex asked thoughtfully.
"We'll come up with something, we can always start from scratch. But I believe in you," he said firmly, understanding the responsibility they bore.
"Okay, I sent the presentation to your email. We're going to the conference in San Francisco, right?"
"We need to coordinate this with the people responsible for releasing new technologies. Then I'll get in touch with my contacts in different parts of the US, is that okay?" he asked her, making a note in the calendar.
"By any chance, do you have a contact named Brooke?" Alex asked. "I heard she's good at organizing."
"Brooke North Wilson, if that's who you mean, one acquaintance knows her," Zack said, looking at Alex as if trying to read her emotions on her face. "Do you want me to find her number for you?"
"Yes, that's her. If it's not too much trouble, let me know. That's all for the questions."
"I'll let you know by the end of the day," Zack promised.
"Okay, I'm going to sleep, feeling sleepy," Alex croaked, covering herself with a blanket.
"Good night, little marshmallow," Zack said with a smile in his voice.
