Central Calendar Day 23 Month 12 Year 1642 (2028), Donetsk Oblast, Mariupol, Soviet Union

With the winter season definitely in full swing, it was no surprise that everyone out on the streets was already wearing thick, winter clothing. Off the coast of Mariupol, the evening sun could be seen slowly sinking beneath the mountains to the west, bathing everything in a solemn red color. Even the sloshing and splashing of waves on the sea sparkled in an ominous yet fascinating red glow. Standing at the very end of a jetty were two men, who took in the cool sea breeze with absent-minded faces

???: Huh… It somewhat looks… different from before

The man with the slightly plump silhouette uttered questionably

He was none other than Minilar, captain of the La Kasami and serving for the Mu Navy; the other man, one of muscular complexion, was his XO, Rohart

They came prepared with clothes for the cold season since Mu also experiences these kinds of seasonal changes, but the winter clothing being sold in this far-off country was far warmer and more comfortable. Sure, it was a bit expensive thanks to the exchange rate, but the price was apparently nothing a commoner here couldn’t buy. With that said, feeling the slightly cold breeze wafting through their exposed body parts was pleasant and comfortable

But the two men weren’t here to go see the beach and the city; what they were actually looking at was the prized scientific marvel of the Mu Navy, the La Kasami, which was scheduled to undergo sea trials

Examining the battleship, Rohart groaned

Rohart: According to the Soviet government, the La Kasami is now ‘massively’ stronger. It does look a bit different from before but I don’t think it’s that bad

Minilar: Setting aside the appearances… In this short span of time, it definitely looks like it recovered from the injuries it sustained

Even now, Minilar could still remember the Battle of Cartalpas, having burned to memory the experiences and sensations he felt that day

He used to think that the homeland was the pinnacle of scientific civilization. Out of all the superpowers out there, they were the only ones remotely close to achieving power parity with the Holy Mirishial Empire. Their genuinely power fleet, centered around the battleship La Kasami, the apex of scientific technological achievement, was what put the title “superpower” next to the name of their country in the international arena—it was also what gave them the pride to consider themselves as such. It was that same fleet that, when pitted against the Gra Valkas Empire, a barbaric nation from another world, performed pathetically and suffered catastrophic losses; even the La Kasami, which he commanded, was utterly useless against what the Gra Valkans threw at them

He clenched his fists firmly

Minilar: With this, we will finally be able to reenter the fight. No matter how powerful our foe is, we cannot hope to pull out for the sake of our people. For that, I thank this Soviet Union for giving us the power to continue the fight

Rohart: But it seems that if not for our government’s insistence, the Soviet government wouldn’t have expedited the pace, and even then it seems like there wasn’t enough time

Minilar: So that’s why the tests and live-firing will be conducted alongside the weapons training

Rohart: Either way, she’s finally coming home to us. I can’t wait

Minilar: Mhm. Still…

Just as they felt excitement for the La Kasami’s eventual homecoming, they also felt anxiety. The Gra Valkan naval power was overwhelmingly powerful; whether they admitted this or not didn’t matter, for it was simply the truth. Even if it did receive some improvements from the USSR, they just couldn’t be convinced that it was enough to win against such a powerful opponent
