After being in the air for about 3 minutes Y/n broke down, she wasn't the type to cry but after seeing and knowing what her own tribe had done throughout her life it was eating away at her. Y/n sat quietly the whole time back to Beek after apologising to everyone (thank fully they all said it wasn't her fault).
They landed on Berk and everyone headed home. Hiccup and Y/n were walking into the haddock household when suddenly Hiccup spoke "you okay? Sorry stupid question because you know- well erm just- I'm here for you"
Y/n laughed lightly for the first time in the past 2 days "thank you Hic" she smiled and hugged him lightly before pulling away and heading inside. Before Y/n could reach the pair room Hiccup called over to her again "hey Y/n how about tomorrow me and you just go for a nice sunrise fly to take your mind off things?" Y/n felt her heart flutter
"I would love that" she smiled and walked into the room with Crystal.
She flopped back onto her bed and smiled like a little kid "tomorrow will be amazing"
The next morning Y/n was up early and gave the dragons some fish. First she got buckets inside for Toothless and Crystal and then she went out the back to give Cloudjumper his
"Here you go bud" she said, wiping a small bead of sweat of her head before tipping out the bucket of fish. Cloudjumper leaned down and put his head against Y/n's and exhaled slowly. Y/n laughed lightly and gave him a scratch under his chin.
"He likes you," Valka suddenly said appearing out of nowhere
"Who? Cloudjumper?" Y/n said with a slight laugh
Valka laughed along with her "yes, but so does my son" she winked, leaving Y/n very embarrassed. Her face het up and she stumbled to speak but Valka was already gone.
Y/n picked up the basket now that the fish were on the floor and headed inside to be met with a certain brunette making food
"Hey Hiccup" Y/n greeted once she had sat the bucket down
"Oh hey n/n, thank you for feeding the dragons, usually I'm the only one up this early" he laughed a little
Y/n smiled and walked beside the boy "Well you did say sunrise flight. so anyway what you making?" She sniffed the pot and it smelled amazing
"Just some stew and stuff to take with us. I thought we could have a little picnic"
Y/n inched closer a little "sounds great!"
Hiccup then wrapped his arm around her shoulder, catching Y/n off guard a bit.
"We haven't really got to do a lot of flying or just hanging out so I thought I'd make the most of it" he smiled warmly as Y/n nodded.
They had been flying for a short time and the sky was amazing, until storm clouds overtook it
"Eh Hiccup, that doesn't look good" Y/n said, pointing to the darkened sky
"No it doesn't, come on we need to find an island and fast" Hiccup had changed from his sarcastic dorky self to a strong, leveled headed chief in a split second and was looking all over his map for an island that was close.
He puffed out a break he never knew he was holding "we can make it to the closest island in half and hour come on"
Y/n nodded and the pair shot off through the skies, trying to outrun the storm.
But it was just to quick and soon lighting and rain were all around them, aswell as fog which made it hard to see.
Y/n urged Crystal through the storm but the poor dragon was terrified having probably not been in a lot
"Easy girl it's okay" Y/n tried to reassure over the winds
"Hiccup! We aren't going to make it!" She then yelled out when she nocited how frequent the lighting was getting, her heart was going faster than a night fury and the world seemed to blur for a moment until she felt a pain throughout her body and blacked out.
"Y/n!" Hiccup yelled as him and Toothless dived after the girl and dragon, both were falling at alarming rates towards the island they planned to land on
"Odin help me out here!" The lost sight of Crystal but could still see Y/n's frail body plummeting towards the foresty area below them.
Hiccup scanned his surroundings but couldn't find the dragon anywhere which made him fear the worse. How would he tell Y/n her dragon may be dead?
After what felt like an eternity Toothless grabbed Y/n in his claws
"Good boy bud" Hiccup shouted over the winds yet again and they slowed a decent towards the island, landing softly in the forest and laying Y/n down and a cave and making a fire.
Hiccup sat for hours waiting on Y/n to wake up "bud what am I going to do?" He asked Toothless, not expecting an answer.
The dragon came over and gave his rider comfort the best he could for the few remaining hours.
Just when Hiccup began to go to sleep, Y/n sat up and began breathing really fast
"Crystal? Hiccup? Toothless?"
She shouted into the dark
"Hey hey I'm here," Hiccup said, hugging her from the side as Toothless lay his head in her lap
She squinted in the dark, "where's Crystal?"
Hiccup sighed deeply "she fell into the forest. Y/n I'm not sure if she'll have made it I was going to search in the morning"
Y/n felt hot tears dripping down her cheeks "she can't be dead Hiccup, I-I can't go through that. Make it stop Hiccup please make it stop" she said through salty tears and sobs. Hiccup wasn't sure what to do but he held her close and comforted her the best he possibly could right now, whilst trying to stay optimistic
"We'll go out searching for her in the morning I promise" he whispered into Y/n's hair
"Thank you"
They pulled away and Y/n leaned in for a kiss. It only lasted a few seconds but that few seconds was enough to love her mood a tiny tiny bit, enough for her to believe her dragon might be okay.
