"Everything was going well. What even happened all of a sudden that you two decided to breakup?" Nandini yells at Sahil as soon as they reach his apartment.
"Nothing was going well, Maa. So it's not all of a sudden." He retorts back agitatedly, making his way to the kitchen to fetch himself a glass of water.
"There are differences between a couple, they'll always exist. That doesn't mean you part ways!"
"I didn't have any other option left. I can't be the only one who keeps making efforts in this relationship." He yells back at her.
"She loves you too." Navya intervenes, reminding Sahil.
"Clearly not enough."
"We all had a video call with your grandparents before fixing the date. They talked to Rhea and I'm sure they liked her and her family too. Now how are we supposed to break the news to them that minutes after finalising the engagement date, the two so called love birds broke up officially?" His father inquires, tone dripping with sarcasm.
"Ask them to go back to searching potential brides for me, Maa can join them too, y'all seemed to be enjoying the process a lot." He shoots back sarcastically.
"Sahil!" Navya warns. "Watch your tongue, stop removing your frustration over your family. It's not their fault that you and Rhea broke up."
He slams the water bottle on the table in the living room and looks at Navya with a disappointed stare. "Then just leave me alone. Stop bothering me with stupid questions. You know what, I really don't want to talk to any of you, especially you." He rolls his eyes disrespectfully.
"Tameez se baat kar! Ek thappad padega na seedha ho jayega." Nandini turns him by his arm, looking at him with sheer disbelief. "Tere nakhre jhelne nahi aaya hai yaha koi."
"Again I'm asking you Sahil, what happened?" Navya keeps her patience. "Did she say something, did she do something? You were literally looking for tickets for the art exhibition so you could visit with her. Everything seemed to be getting better."
Sahil shifts his gaze to his sister-in-law. "Bhabhi, how many times did I ask you what happened between you and Bhai?"
Navya was taken aback by that question.
"How many times did I ask y'all what's wrong and y'all said it's nothing?" His eyes run over his parents. "I just wanted to help alright," he says, looking at Navya. "I was concerned but you didn't share with me, neither did Bhai. And then, I come to know that you've told Rhea the reason. She knew it too and she didn't tell me. You've known me for years but you chose to confide in someone whom you've known hardly for a month. You— "
"You were upset with Rhea because of that?" She cuts him off.
He chuckles dryly. "She has given me many reasons to be upset upon but yes, this is one of them."
