Scene 5 (In front of Yumi's house)
Yumi's friends arrived.
"Hi Yumi, we miss you so much. When are you coming back to Manila?" one friend asked.
"Ah, maybe this month, but there are a lot of things to take care of here on the farm, so I can't leave right away," Yumi replied.
"By the way, who's that at the back of your house watering the plants? Is he your boyfriend or suitor? He looks like a young man," another friend asked, noticing JC at the back of Yumi's house.
"Ah, him? He's our gardener here, our caretaker on our farm, a servant," Yumi replied.
"Ahahaha, I see, sorry about that. I thought your standards had dropped, friend, haha," the friend laughed.
"Hahaha, my standards won't drop, okay?! I don't like someone lowly, and I won't choose a poor guy, haha. What I want is someone wealthy, extremely handsome, and well-built," and the friends laughed.
JC, who was watering the plants, seemed to feel a pang in his heart as he overheard the conversation, especially the words spoken by Yumi.
"Father, it hurts so much, but I will endure it because I love her so much," the young man whispered as he watered the plants, tears almost falling.
