"y equals log x plus c!" Ava exclaimed as she clutched her teeth in anticipation

"that is correct" Darcy sighed pushing the solution towards Jonathan who had his head down in regret

"give it up" Ava chuckled as she got up and danced goofy all to get under Jonathan's skin

"fine fine" he sighed handing her the video game

it was grand theft auto V. she had wanted that game since it launched but neither of her parents were willing to get it for her, finally 11 years later she won the game on her own

"let's go" Darcy instructed when the three heard the bell.

they walked out of the empty classroom together walking to their lockers

"I'll see you guys at lunch" Ava fist bumped the two

"I'll get you next time" Jonathan warned jokingly as they parted ways

having homeroom without any of your friends sucked but it sucked more when you had the teacher who slept, who sleeps at homeroom?

Ava however used this opportunity every morning to get her homework done that she never got done the day before.

at lunch she met with her two friends, which were all she had. as they sat at their usual place. just the three of them.

"yeah and she was like k equals negative three like" Ava paused snapping her fingers "that"

"she's like super smart then" Jonathan spoke through a mouthful of food

"yeah. no shit, Sherlock" Darcy snapped back at him

"it's that girl over there" Ava pointed at a girl wearing a flannel "Cady Heron"

"where do you think she's gonna sit?" Jonathan asked as three examined the confused girl with a tray in her hand

"hope it's not the nerds or the freaks" Ava chuckled

"bro" Jonathan looked her dead in the eye "we're the nerds"

"no" Darcy shook her head "you two are, don't be dragging me into this bullshit"

"eh, you're the freak" Ava shrugged "so it checks out" she earned a shove on the shoulder from Darcy

"anyways" Jonathan started "have you thought about joining the mathelets?" he asked Ava

"no, Nathan" she sighed "I told you. mathelets? it's like social suicide"

"as if you're popular or something" Johnathan scoffed and as if on cue, entered the plastics

their entry was hard to miss. whenever they arrived all heads turned, whispers heard. so even if you were trying, you couldn't miss their entry anywhere

"speak of the devil" Ava sighed folding her arms above her chest as she couldn't help but watch them.

"always so dramatic and why" Darcy said as she returned to her food

"geez, you have to agree, Karen is kinda pretty" he returned to his food as well after earning a slap on the shoulder from Darcy

"Johnathan, no" Darcy whined "enemy territory" and reminded him like you'd remind a little boy

"mhm" Ava replied still looking at the sight

ava licked her lips out of habit just when a pair of blue eyes gazed into hers.

"uhm" ava cleared her throat after she turned away almost immediately  "you guys are still coming over right, gotta try this bad boy out" she took the video game out, teasing jonathan 

"yeah yeah whatever" he sighed rolling his eyes 

"i'll be there" darcy spoke "you have ap chem now, right?" she asked ava 

"yeah i do" she looked at darcy "and why do you know or remember? are you in love with me or something?" she playfully joked 

"yeah, i am like so obsessed with you" she pretended to force kiss ava resulting in a laughing fit from the three 

"i'll see you losers, later" ava got up as she plugged in her headphones and walked over to chem classroom, some indie/alt song played through them. 

"ava" mr. cheng said "early as always, take a seat" she smiled at the man before taking her headphones off as she took her usual seat at the middle "have you read the papers i suggested last week?" 

"oh yeah" she took the files out "i just have one question though" he raised his eyebrow as he signalled her to continued "here if we use anhydrous AlCl3 won't that just react with the reactant and form salt?" 

"right" he said deep in thought as he looked over the file once again, biting his lip "you're right, it's a lewis acid and the reactant is a base" he looked at ava, impressed "good work, kiddo" he smiled as the other students started to walk in 

just for a brief moment, ava wandered her gaze outside the class when she spotted the queen bee pass by momentarily looking inside as their eyes met for a second
