I had been absent from college for a week due to illness. When I returned to my classroom, my friends bombarded me with news about a form we had to submit in the next two days. Rushing to the admin office, I obtained the form and began filling it out after the second lecture. I completed it but realized I was missing a section that required a U-Dise code, something I had never heard of.

I asked my friend Jiya about it, and she explained that it was a code I needed to obtain from my school. Wondering if I had to go back to my school for it, I asked Jiya, who replied, “No need for that. There are two boys in the C division from your school. You can ask them.”

As I nodded, we both headed towards the C division’s classroom, which was located to the left of mine. I obtained the code and submitted the form to the admin department, feeling relieved that I had managed to complete it. I thanked God and attended my next lecture without any further distractions. You know what distraction I'm talking about...

After enduring a series of boring lectures, my girl gang and I headed to the canteen. It was there that I discovered we had three boys in our group, a fact I had been unaware of until then. One of them was missing, but I met the other two, who were indeed from my school as Jiya had mentioned.

Jiya introduced them to me, “Ahaan and Gaurav. You've met Gaurav in class, and he is Ahaan.”

“Your schoolmates, whom you didn’t notice. Well, I wonder where you were hidden? How come I never noticed such a goddess before? My bad!”, Gaurav said with a flirtatious tone.

“Don’t make her nervous. You duffer! By the way, don’t you have an assignment to submit which you were talking about on the bus?” Ahaan interrupted, noticing my discomfort.

Gaurav assured him he would submit it tomorrow, and we all sat at an empty table in the canteen.

“Hey, do you know the girl named Prajakta in our class?” Gaurav asked me curiously.

Ahaan gave him a weird stare, which confused me for a minute.

“I am bad at remembering names, but maybe I have seen her during our school days,” I replied.

“Oh, right. I am also very bad at remembering names. Just wait, I have her Insta ID. Let me show you her pic,” Gaurav said excitedly, piquing my curiosity about Prajakta.

After a few minutes, he showed me a picture of her, and I was shocked to see it because she was my schoolmate even in my previous school.

As I told them that I knew her since kindergarten, Ahaan’s frustrated expression changed into a curious but happy one.

“Wait, who has a crush on her between the two of you? I'm guessing it’s Ahaan? Am I right or am I right?” I asked, raising my eyebrows.

I don’t know why, but the cupid side of me got excited to know more about it.

Gaurav confirmed that my guess was right, Ahaan had a crush on her, and he even stalked her like a crazy guy. He knew everything about her, but as he is an extremely shy soul, he couldn’t even say a word in front of her.

“Oh, I see!” I gave a sympathetic expression.

Gaurav asked me to help Ahaan with his one-sided love, to make it two-sided, and I assured him with a smile.

As we sat in the canteen, sipping on our drinks, Ahaan and I delved into a conversation that revealed a surprising twist of fate. He casually mentioned that he lived just five lanes away from my house. My eyes widened in disbelief. How could it be that we had been living in such close proximity all this time, yet our paths had never crossed until now?

As he described the landmarks near his house, I realized that I had indeed wandered around that area countless times. I had passed by his house, unknowingly just a stone's throw away from where he lived. It was as if we had been living parallel lives, so close yet so far.

The realization left me pondering the mysteries of destiny. We had grown up in the same neighborhood, attended the same school, and our classrooms had been mere walls apart. Yet, it took a college friend's casual mention for our paths to finally converge. It was a strange and surreal feeling, as if the universe had been orchestrating our meeting all along.

I couldn't help but wonder if there was a deeper meaning behind my encounter with Mr. Mesmerizing eyes. Perhaps, it was more than just a coincidence. Maybe, just maybe, there was a greater force at play, guiding us towards each other. The thought sent a shiver down my spine.

I couldn't shake off the feeling that our meeting was destined to happen. Maybe not in the past, but certainly for the future. It was a thought that filled me with both excitement and apprehension. What did fate have in store for us? Only time would tell.
