Renegade's POV
It's all just a dream wake up!!
I am running in circle in the forest, hindi ko alam kung saan ako pupunta. Paikot-ikot lang ako sa gubat, I am lost.
"Pst" that's a voice, hinanap ko kung nasaan ang boses, ulit ulit na pst lang naririnig ko.
Bigla nalang lumindol and gumuho ang kalahati ng lupa ng gubat, ngayon nasa harap na ako ng isang bangin.
"Do you really think, you could win the games?" Someone said... That's a familiar voice.
Humarap ako, at nakita ko si Emma Clitcher sa harapan ko, ang unang crackerjack ng county namin.
"What do you mean?" I am confused, what is she saying... She already win the game.
"Huh! You still don't know young lady" she said, and bigla nalang siyang nag laho sa harapan ko.
And suddenly in a snap, nasa harapan ko na siya and bigla niya akong tinulak sa bangin.
I scream in the top of my lungs to call for help, but no one comes, I see the sky, gray... And suddenly I fell into the depth of darkness.
"And may the stars align with you"... A deep voice.
I open my eyes, and suddenly nasa harap na ako ng mayor's office, and it's the reaping day.
"Now it's always as it is, lady's first" the reaper is actually dress in a grim reaper costume, so hindi namin kilala kung sino talaga yon. Pero laging malalim ang boses nila.
"For girls! It's.... Emma Clitcher! Our female player in County 14: Dugler!" Saids by the greaper man (short for grim reaper)
"Where are you honey??" Emma's walking down towards the stage, when suddenly, she looks at me with blood on her eyes, she's crying blood!
Umakyat si Emma sa stage and naka tingin pa din siya saakin habang umiiyak ng dugo.
"Our female player!!", All of our people clapped because of relieved that the one who's playing the isn't their child, but somebody child.
"Now for the male player...." The greaper walk towards the bowl with the boys name in it.
"For the boy player.... He is..... Cole Azza!!" And suddenly my world fall apart, I can't volunteer for him, cause first he's a boy and I am a girl. Second my father can't volunteer for him also because he's too old to play the games.
"No!!!" I shout and scream and lumakad ako papalapit kay Cole pero ang mga police officer na nag babantay ay pinigilan ako.
"No Cole!! Please don't do this!! You can't play the game you are still young!!... Cole!!!" I am crying, and suddenly... All of our people in our county is laughing at me. Even my parents and my sister Blossom.
I looked at them confused all of them, laughing to my face... And I see Emma Clitcher grinning at me, she looks like a devil!
Then suddenly my whole world stop, as I see blood in my stomach, and a sword. Sinaksak nila ako sa likod, tinignan ko kung sinong gumawa non at nakita ko si Prate... My best friend!
"RENEGADE WAKE UP!!" Napatalon ako sa sigaw ni Blossom.
"Gosh thank God ate, you are awake" she said.
"What happened?" I touch my face and it's full of sweat, and plus I am crying.
"You are dreaming, sinisigaw mo yung pangalan ni Cole plus si Emma Clitcher, and meron pang isa 'di ko lang matandaan kung sino" sabi niya.
And I remember the sword... Yung sinaksak saakin ni Prate sa panaginip ko, ganun na ganun din yung sword na binigay niya saakin, na ngayon ay naka sabit sa cabinet ko.
"Thank you for waking me up" I said to Blossom, she smiles.
"It's breakfast time ate! Come on now"
"Yeah I'll be there, just a minute" sabi ko at nag ayos na para sumunod sa kitchen to have breakfast.
Two days to go before the reaping, I know the county babies right now ay sobra sobra sa pag pre-prepare, sila mostly ang favorite ng mga tao sa Ministry and sila minsan ang nanalo sa grim reaper, kasi sila ang mas binibigyan ng favor.
Bumababa na ako to take my breakfast, and I found my parents and my siblings right there, taking breakfast also.
"Good morning anak" my mother said, I smiled at her, and also to my father.
"Two days before now, lagi natin ginagawa ito, a family discussion about the game..." My father said, while eating his breakfast.
We always do a family routine, which we discuss everything about what we need to expect and what will happen in the game.
"Masyado ng cruel and parang tinatrato na tayo ng hayop ng Ministry".... That's new, hindi sinasabi ni Papa yung mga ganyan na salita, nakikinig lagi siya sa Ministry.
"Now, whatever it takes... I know isa saatin ay pwedeng mabunot through reaping" My father said.
The reaping age starts at 11 years old hanggang 59 years old, there's no exemption even you have physical disability or a dying disease, if you list your name, you need to face your consequences.
"Alam natin na bawal mag volunteer, unless isa saatin ang mabunot, and kapag parehas naman na galing saating family ang tribute, we promise na hindi papatayin ang isa't isa no matter it takes" My father said. We are always in silent kapag nag sasalita siya ng ganto.
"If one of us get reaped, we promise that we will do our best to win! If not, we will move on, take a little to grieve, cause time doesn't stop for your mourning"
My mom's gonna cry, she's always crying kapag may family discussion kaming ganito, and Blossom is always there para i-comfort siya.
"If we didn't make it alive through the game, If me didn't make it Reneagade will be the one who's in charge in our family, if Renegade gets reaped, Cole you are the one who's in charge now!"
My father said.
"We promise to each other, no matter what happens, we will stay as one, kailangan nating patatagin ang loob natin, walang susuko, dahil sa pamilyang Azza kailanman ay walang problemang di kayang lusutan" sabi ni papa at kaming lahat naman ay tumango at bumalik sa pagkain.
This is our life, because of the 'rebellion' as the Ministry said, kailangan namin pag bayarin lahat, we are entertainments for them, we are just toy... Ministry is the one who controls the puppet, and who's the puppet? Us.
