Major Announcement: Wattpad's New Guidelines & Its Impact on INSHKBM

4/12/24 - HIGHLY IMPORTANT MESSAGE

Hey everyone,

As some of you may already know, Wattpad made an unexpected announcement on Friday, April 5.

Starting on April 15, 2024, Wattpad will change their age of consent guidelines for novel characters from age 16 to age 18.

This means no character in a novel can have sex in any form "on the page" younger than 18 at any time. Due to the mature nature of my novel, I Never Should Have Kissed Braden McGill, and the intense repercussions my main characters experience surrounding their love affair later in the story, even with careful editing, this news still puts my story, and potentially my account, at termination risk.

Based on my work schedule and adult responsibilities, there was no way I could edit 60+ chapters, change the main characters' ages to 18, restructure chapter events, rewrite entire scenes, correct all plot inconsistencies, and dilute the overall mature nature of INSHKBM to appease Wattpad's staff and new AI system IN LESS THAN A WEEK.

Wattpad's abrupt announcement has given me no choice but to remove I Never Should Have Kissed Braden McGill off Wattpad.

For the sake of my future work and the long-term safety of my platform, I must go to this extreme to avoid the risk of my account getting banned or flagged by Wattpad's staff and new AI features.

>>> Wattpad has already shadowbanned I Never Should Have Kissed Braden McGill in their tag rankings algorithm for a few weeks now to reduce its visibility to general audiences (INSHKBM's current tag rankings I see from my creator account are not acknowledged publicly in the system once I log out as a general visitor—that's how I found out the book has already been shadowbanned. Wattpad does not privately tell authors when their books are  shadowbanned. They just do it.). A lot of you over the last couple of weeks have most likely been finding INSHKBM through others' reading lists or had saved the book in your libraries before Wattpad implemented their new AI. <<<

I will remove most of I Never Should Have Kissed Braden McGill off Wattpad on Sunday, April 14, 2024 @5PM PST.

If the remainder of INSHKBM and its book cover that I'm keeping posted ever disappear from your libraries or your reading lists after April 15, 2024, Wattpad has most likely deleted my book (and its 404K+ reading history) entirely.

⚠️ If my account disappears without any warning from me in the future, Wattpad's new AI has most likely banned my account by default.
