This wonderful piece was written by Firehedgehog. I have been sharing the first draft of this story with them, as I write it, piece by piece, they comment on it, and sometimes, they give me little ideas that I can use to help me push the story onwards.

This story wouldn't actually exist without them, or their 'Sins of Mara' series, it was thanks to them that I had the Spark to create Solace's story.

And it might answer a few questions that you have, or drop a few bombshells on you.

One of the questions that it does answer is where the real Swap is, and what he is doing.

Enjoy!

Goth.. was young when he was taken.

He remembered his Father's great raven wings, and his Mother's warm hand holding his own, but he did not remember their names, or their faces. The only thing of them that he had, was the red scarf that he never took off.

The meanies that kept him here called him an abomination, and they forced him to wear gloves. They had to replace them often, since they rotted so quickly due to his Magic.

He wanted to go home, wherever home was.

He been loved there, and that had not faded from his memories.

Goth lived in a set of rooms with a false outside, the courtyard had a painted sky. He knew what a sky was, he wished to see the sun, and feel it's warmth again.

"I... I think that you're Geno and Reaper's child." Swap said, they were the kindly monster in another room that looked after him, and did not fear him. While they could not touch him for too long, or his Magic would start to drain Swap's energy, the other Monster made sure that he had plenty of hugs and care.

"Why did they leave me here?" Goth asked him that, with tears in his eyes, he hated it here.

"They... they likely can’t find you." Swap admitted.

"But..." Goth protested.

"One day, we’ll be rescued, and you’ll go home to your parents." Swap said, rubbing his skull.

"Who will you go home to?" Goth asked.

"If they still exist, and they still love me..." Swap said trailing off, closing his blue eyes in grief.

"Who?" Goth asked him, curious.

"Don’t worry about it Goth, anyway, it's time to have your wings preened." Swap said, with a smile on his face.

"That’s not an answer." Goth pouted.

"I know." Swap giggled.

"You're mean." Goth said, hugging the older monster.
