But here this villain is, This is just bad luck on Tommy's part. Seriously, His whole day has been shit and now here he is in front of (another) dangerous villain. And it was also the villain who had showed up at Tommy's cafe earlier today.
"I thought i noticed a familiar mop of blond hair." The supervillain grin grew wider as he spoke and Tommy felt sick at the implication of the villain knowing his identity. "Also your roots are showing." Quakity points out rudely and Tommy completely forgets about hiding his identity.
'You bitch! You said the same thing at my work!' Tommy signs then promptly crosses his arms with disdain painted on his face. His brain filled with too much anger to register what he had said until fear shifts into him and he gets angry at himself for n to thinking before his mouth moves.
The supervillain shruggs and pulls out a play card and offers it to Tommy. "Listen." Tommy watches the scar on the mans face shift as he speaks softly. "I like you and i like your coffee. Id like to do some business with your little cafe." Quakity pauses and moves the card closer to the young teen.
He watches as Dolos's fingers reach forward and carefully grab the card. Quakity pulls his hand back and puts its back in his pocket as Tommy observes the card. A black metallic card with yellow and red designs with a pixelated smile on the back and a two of spades on the front. Many wouldn't question it but Quakity can't help but smile at the look on Dolos' face or well, in his eyes as the young vigilante stares at the card.
The thing is, Quakity has been observing the vigilante and has been watching videos of how the vigilante fights. He's learned his fighting style and places he always goes for on the people he fights. The kid has amazing speed and seems to have massive know-how when it comes to movement. There's also videos of him jumping from five story buildings and landing like he had jumped from a curb. Most villains could do that easily with super compression soles but those are thick as fuck and Dolos doesn't wear shoes like that. The kid was almost indestructible and yet with all quakity knows about him, theres still too much he doesn't know. Plus, the kid doesn't seem to have a digital footprint and he also isn't in any government system. There wasn't anyone with the name Tommy that matched this kids description. It was crazy scary.
"Listen kid, Just bring me a black iced caremel coffee tomorrow at my casino. Show the card to the guards and they'll let you in. Don't loose that card either. Some people would kill to have a card of that standard." Quakity rocks back on his heels then settles back to the front in slight excitement as he talks to the vigilante.
Dolos hesitates as he stares at the superhero. 'Civilian or vigilante?' He signs then puts the card into his wallet.
"uhhh, your choice honestly. Anyway i gotta go. You better do the same and take care of those roots." He continues as he turns around and walks off the building. There's a clang of metal as he presumably walks down the buildings fire escape.
Tommy sighs and waits a couple of minutes before turning and heading home. Home?
...
The soot place wasn't his home. It was just a place of residence that Tommy happened to reside in for the time being. It wasn't like he thought of them as family, hell he had only known them for a week and he's barely even talked to them other than the multiple times they'v taken Tommy shopping.
Tommy's ribs ached as he made his way back into the relatively richer neighborhoods when he was stopped by more people.
404 and Dream. Two people that he had seen just over an hour ago were now standing on the same roof as him with 404 in front and dream behind him. Tommy had a stare off with 404 before another throb was send through his chest and he winced; his hand immediately moving towards his rib and 404 pulled out on of his knifes. A silent threat to not move. Tommy paused but slowly moved his hand to rest his hand against his rib and rubbing it slightly as a feeble attempt to ease the pain.
Tommy swallowed and had to force himself to not speak. He wouldn't normally but these two knew how he sounded as a civilian and he didnt want to waste money on a voice changer that could potentially be traced back to him.
"Dolos." A voice from behind greets him in a not so friendly tone and Tommy sighs. His rib sends another shot of pain through hi and he knows that theres no way he could outrun him like this. What the hell could he do in this situation? Let them arrest him? Maybe he could reveal his identity but that would make everything worse; just because they are his friends doesn't mean they wouldn't put their job first.
This was bad. Real bad. Like really fucking bad.
There was only one thing that might. Maybe. Possibly could get him out of this.
He turned on his heel and ran at dream with all the force he could muster and slammed into him. Tommy didnt try to restrain the other vigilante and instead just leaned down towards the mans ear and whispered one small simple thing.
"Smith." It was a threat. A big one. One that made the vigilante under Tommy freeze and immediately yell for 404 to stop.
"What?" 404s voice broke as he stares down at the two vigilantes.
D-don't. Don't do anything to him." Dream whispers as his green eyes stare right into Tommy's blue ones.
"If he has a knife to you i can stop him." 404 almost sounds like a whiny child as he says that, sounding as if he was almost angry at his vigilante partner.
"No. 404 step back and let Dolos leave." Dream says firmly because as much as he wanted to punch Dolos in the jaw; the vigilante somehow knew his last name and could possibly know his first and dream didn't know how. And he didn't want to be exposed in front of 404. The hero would surely be disappointed to find out that dream was just a college nerd named Clay. That the vigilante had no one to turn to, often changed proportions of his muscles and acted completely different from his citizen self. That he had ADHD and got overstimulated at the simplest things like food which led to him developing an eating disorder, That he had a nasty scar that goes across the bridge of his nose from his dad.
Dream couldn't handle rejection from the person he's closest with.
"Okay..." 404 whispers and Dolos relaxed slightly and his hand that was just on dreams shoulder returns to his rib again.
"Im sorry." He whispers softly in a gruff voice that made dream frown and Dolos stood and retreated slowly away from the two. One of which ran up to dream and hugged him tightly before checking dream for injury's while dream just watched Dolos who was shaking and gripping his side with more intensity than before. Then the vigilante jumped off the roof and landed somewhere on the streets below.
Tommy had tears in his eyes as he walked through back alleys of the city. He couldn't believe he had done that to his friend. Dream had looked so fucking scared of Tommy in that moment. It hurt Tommy more than it shouldve.
Wetness collided with Tommy's fabric mask and Tommy's frown grew as he sighed. He managed to get to the Soots residence and made his way onto the roof and managed to slide himself through his bathroom window. He climbed in and took off his binder rather quickly whimpering as cool air hit his aching chest. He pulled the mask off and let the tears continue falling as he slumps onto the toilet. He doesn't cry like this often, people don't normally affect him but that look just hurt him too much.
Tommy puts all his hero stuff and his binder into his inventory then opens the door to the bathroom to be met with an angry looking Phil.
"And where were you?" Phil asks with his arms crossed.
