"Wilson, pwede na ka nang lumabas.”

“Finally!” I exclaimed while stretching my body.

As I emerged from the dimly lit prison, I witnessed Barry exiting from her cell as well. She shook her head and gave me a small smile as our eyes connected. I laughed softly, particularly when we strolled through the hallways together.

“Tang*na ang titibay n’yo talagang dalawa. Bente-kwatro na kayong walang kain nagagawa n’yo pang ngumiti,” one of the police officers said.

My left eyebrow was raised, but I didn't make any effort to look at them.

“Sanay na ang mga ‘yan. Baka nakakalimutan mo kung anong klase silang mga babae. Sanay yan mag tiis ng gutom para mas mukhang maganda at sexy sa harap ng mga lalaki—” the other policeman didn't even finish his words when Barry turned around and kicked his crotch.

The man made an irritating whine while the other was gasping in disbelief.

“Masakit? Gutom pa'yan,  huh! Paano pa kaya kung busog ako?” Barry continued, then turned to leave the two police officers in the corridor. I grinned and followed her right away.

She truly has very little patience with her.

“Ano ‘to?”

Officer Shang appeared in front of us out of nowhere. Her dirty eyes first fell on Barry and me, then back on the two cops in the corridor.

“What?” Barry said with irritation.

“Hindi talaga kayo titigil dalawa no? Ano b’ang akala n’yo sa mga pulis dito? Laruan na anytime ay pwede ninyong bugbugin kung gusto n’yo?”

When I saw the rage on her face, my jaw tightened. She speaks as though we are the worst people in the room.

"Look who's talking," I firmly stated.

Shang gave me a bewildered, shocked look, but all I could give her was a blank stare.

“Don’t try to play with me, Wilson—”

“And don't try to sound like an innocent, kind, and concerned b*ch because you're not,” I said with gritting teeth.

“Bullsh*t! Wilson. Hindi mo ako madadaan sa kayabangan mo ngayon. Parang kailan lang ay kinailangan pa kitang bihisan ng damit dahil mahina ka.”

When I hear her words, my ear starts to produce warning noises, and my eyes twitch with rage. I move in closer to her and clench my fist until my fingernails pierce through my flesh. I noticed the way her eyes viewed the blood that was now dripping on the floor.

"Have you noticed that blood? Even though it appears so small to you, it represents my fury. Even though I can be the weakest, I am also the strongest.”

"Are you trying to make tough impression on me? "

"Oh, so sorry, I might have scared you."

"Never," she answered right away. I laughed a little, sarcastically.

"We'll see about that."

Barry took me into the hall so we could finally eat after I said that.

Barry didn't ask about a conversation with Shang because we're now trying to act subtly. Even if we appear strong enough to battle, the last thing we want to do at this point is let the opponent see what we have planned.

“Finally, I think we deserve this food right now. I am starving,” Barry said when seated in our usual spot.

As we were finishing our meal, two policemen approached us.

“Wilson may bisita ka,” he said, which made me stand up straight away immediately.

Barry gave me an understanding nod since she had food stuck to her mouth. However, as soon as I realized who had visited me, my body froze when the two officers led me to the visiting area.

“Mrs. Winston?” I uttered. I still cannot believe that Clifford's mom visits me.

She turned around and gave me a glare. Her expression was pure contempt, so I forced myself to swallow in order to at least get rid of the lump that was stuck in my throat.

“What can I do for you, Ma’a—”

She gave me a strong slap, which made me stop talking and give her a tearful expression.

“Kung alam ko lang na ikaw ang magdadala sa pamilya ko ng kamalasan, pinapatay nalang sana kasama ng mga magulang mo,” she said. Her body was trembling with rage, and her eyes were gleaming with tears as well.

To relieve the calming ache that is currently plaguing my entire being, I bit my lip and inhaled deeply.

“I didn't kill your son, Mrs. Winston.”

“Liar!” she retorted, causing her voice to echo inside the whole room.

I still gather my courage and tell her, even though I know she wouldn't even try to believe me.

"Your son was not killed by me. I have done nothing wrong. Actually, it was your family that inflicted the terrible damage upon me.”

Naiba ang timple ng mukha nito.

“Is that the reason you put him to death? Huh?!"

"No, because I didn't kill him." However, given how horrible your family is, I don't find it shocking that Clifford was killed.

“You son of a b*tch!”

“Mrs. Winston. I've gone through so much suffering and tribulation in this cell, but I'm not going to give up trying to convince you that Clifford was not killed by me. You are allowing his killer to go free without feeling guilty for killing your son. That's why you should never refer to this as justice because it isn't.”

“And who are you to tell that? Baliw ka kagaya ng ina mong kirida! Lahat ng ebidensya ay tinuturo ang pagkatao mo, kaya mabulok ka sa kulungan!”

I tightened my jaw and looked straight at her.

“Mrs. Winston. You sought revenge on my family because you were upset that your husband had an affair with my mother. Not even considering that I had done nothing to you. You made me suffer for years, and you took retribution on all of us. Have you considered the idea that you could be the reason why Clifford died? Since I'm very certain you always act in that manner when you seek revenge, You caused suffering for everyone, even the innocent. What happens if the person who killed your son employs the same strategies against you?" I said. The woman gave me a disbelieving look, but then she slapped her palm back on my face and gave me a humiliated expression.

“Huwag mong pinapaikot ang ulo ko, alam kong ikaw ang pumatay sa anak ko at nandito ako ngayon para sabihin sayong; gugulin mo ng tama ang maghapong ito. Dahil hindi mo nalalaman kung pagbibigyan kapa ng diyos na huminga kinabukasan.”

After she said that, she forcefully grabbed her bag and went out of the visiting area.

I blow some air to release the negative energy that is now starting to invade my whole system. This is not the right moment to feel weak. But no matter how much I tried to be strong, pain always wins.

Barry was sound asleep, and it was getting dark. Unable to find a peaceful place to fall asleep, I opened my netbook and started going through all the files, carefully reading each one.

Firstly, Lenard was correct. The only similarity I can see between these situations is that every suspect is claiming innocence. attempting to compile everything at the outset. In the end, I rearranged Carter's case's events.

Carter prevented being set up two years ago. He was ruled not guilty despite the evidence because his attorney produced sufficient evidence to support his innocence, including the testimony of a witness.

Another case surfaced a month later. An actress who was raped and stabbed 50 times was discovered dead inside her room. The delivery man who delivered her groceries that day is the suspect. In the afternoon, the cops discovered the suspect dozing off on his couch while grasping the murder weapon.

There are other cases, some of which Lenard's team is able to save, but not all of them.

Barry's case occurred half a year ago. Since we both woke up in the same room with the man dead on the bed, the circumstances are almost exactly the same as mine. However, the problem lies in the fact that, if Barry was present, how did the murderer kill that man if Barry was in that room?

I let out a long sigh.

I was only filled with sympathy as I stared at her.

Barry is innocent; I know that. Despite the fact that I don't know her well, I have a gut feeling that she is innocent. Apart from that, Pow and Miggy support her since they think she's not guilty. In that instance, I can see why she chose to flee rather than fight for justice. Her situation is far more challenging than mine. And it's really difficult to comprehend how on earth that came to pass.

But give it some serious thought. If the suspect is at the crime scene, I believe it makes the planning of the crime much simpler. Yes, Barry was in that room. She must have taken drugs that evening because she was unaware of what had occurred to the victim when she woke up. The crime set-up was simpler in that scenario.

In contrast, in my case, I was taken back into that room, where I was left as a suspect after the entire crime scene had been put up. The killer went over and beyond to set me up, even though I wasn't in that room that night.

I rubbed my temples and started looking through the folder again, but I was surprised to see another file. The collection of CCTV footage from each case is contained inside, each in its own folder labeled with the suspect's file name.

I eagerly go through each video clip, looking for any loopholes. However, I had to shut down the device and hide it beneath my bed when I heard a pair of shoes squeaking in the hallway. When I had completely hidden everything, I went back to bed and pretended to be asleep.

Why a police officer is still on the loose in this area at this hour is a question that bothers me. But my heartbeat started to race as the shoe's sound abruptly stopped in front of our cell.

I hear the key turning the doorknob without even trying to be cautious. Barry started to wake up at the sounds, and I gestured for her to be alerted when her eyes found me.

The metal door flew open, letting a tiny breeze into our chamber. There was silence for a minute, and then a silhouette moved into the space.

When that unidentified individual reached for a knife and leaped into my bed to attack me, everything occurred so quickly. I am able to resist reaching for my pillow. Barry can drag the guy over my head and strangle him from behind.

However, this one knows how to fight.

He was able to change their posture by twisting his body. He's currently strangling Barry.

Under my bed, I reached for the pocket knife and threw it at the man. However, he was quick enough to snag it and stop it from landing on his face. However, as a result, blood spilled over the floor when his hand caught the blade rather than the holder.

Barry kicked his left foot and twisted his arm, and the man lost his cool. I sprinted in his way and gave him a heavy punch, but to our surprise, he pulled himself up and kicked me while using Barry as support.

I got back up right away and launched another attack. The three of us traded punches and kicks, neither of us landing a big hit.

Even though I was starting to perspire and feel fatigued, Barry and this man both seemed calm. I inhaled deeply before tripping him in another attack. I felt glad when he collapsed on the floor, allowing me to keep him between my legs. Barry used that opportunity to get up over the man and keep him from fleeing.

“Why do you want to kill me? Sinong nagutos sa’yo?!” I yelled.

I tightened my legs even more, causing the man to struggle for oxygen as he remained silent.

“Hindi kaba marunong sumagot ng tanong? Sino ka! Bakit gusto mong patayin si Jam?!” Barry exclaimed.

The man doesn't say anything, and I don't think he will. Like the man on the truck, I get the sense that instead of revealing the mastermind, he will choose to end his life.

“Ayaw mo sabihin, huh!” Barry released her left arm in an attempt to remove the man's mask, but he was still able to remove her from his top with only that. I was even more surprised when he escaped my hold and fled the room, leaving us both bewildered.

“Did he just walk out?” Barry uttered incredulous words. But even I find it hard to believe what happened.

“Huwag mong pinapaikot ang ulo ko, alam kong ikaw ang pumatay sa anak ko at nandito ako ngayon para sabihin sayong; gugulin mo ng tama ang maghapong ito. Dahil hindi mo nalalaman kung pagbibigyan kapa ng diyos na
huminga kinabukasan.”

Mrs. Winston's voice suddenly resounded in my mind.

“F*ckin’ bullsh*t!” I whimpered, realizing that she really hired someone to kill me.
