The last letter.

In a time long past, where shadows fell deep,
A hero stood tall, his destiny to keep.
Through battles and triumphs, he forged his way,
Until one fateful moment, on a darkened day.

The last letter written, with ink stained with sweat,
Words of farewell, of love and regret.
A promise unspoken, a heart filled with sorrow,
As he faced his fate, with courage to borrow.

His sword by his side, his armor worn thin,
He rode into battle, with a heavy heart within.
Each strike and each blow, he fought without fear,
Till the enemy's blade, brought him near.

As he lay on the battlefield, his life slipping away,
He clutched that last letter, where his love did stay.
With his final breath, he whispered her name,
And into the shadows, he eternally came.

The last letter now a memory, of a hero so brave,
Whose sacrifice and love, nothing could save.
In songs and in tales, his legend will live,
Of the warrior who gave all, and never did grieve.
