INTRODUCTION/SETUP: This story will focus on the character Azulon, the son of princess Azula. The time period will be Korra's time period where we have some of the characters from Avatar still. Though I will be slowing down the technological advancements in republic city so we wont be seeing giant robots but it will have an early Industrial Revolution / steampunk feel with plenty of metal bending and grapple launchers. As far as the technology is concerned I like the idea that the Korra series explores as far as benders vs non benders and the way they're treated and I understand the robots were a way of 'evening the odds.' But I'd like to instead replace the robots with a flintlock style gun. Something found in history:

(I think these fantasy style weapons would be better suited for the world of avatar.)
A flintlock style gun that is still slow to reload and can be inaccurate but my thought is they were designed to deal against benders like some shoot stone shrapnel aka Earth. Others shoot a fire shot, others an air blast which is maybe a non lethal option. And there can be water cannons possibly electric bolts. I can see applications both as crowd control / policing in republic city and for weapons of war. I'm going to make these weapons exclusively made in republic city which makes the city the epicenter for technological advancement. Everywhere else the weapons may be illegal and there's a black market. I will definitely iron out all the lore throughout the story in regards to these new weapons.
