Chapter 2: Back Door Escape

"But what will you do if you and Mama lose, Papa?!", I asked as Mrs. Shinazugawa, Nezuko, Hanako, Sumi, Teiko, Genya, Shigeru, Rokuta, Takeo, Hiroshi, Shuya and Koto ran right to the back of the house. Papa removed the earrings he was wearing and put them into my ears. "You have to trust me and your mother on this one, Sumiko. You, your siblings, Mrs. Shinazugawa and her seven children aren't going to be safe here.", Papa replied. "Sanemi, whatever happens to myself and Kie, I'm trusting you and your family to look after Sumiko and her siblings.", Papa said just before Mama joined him. "Of course, Mr. Kamado.", Sanemi replied before lightly grabbing my left hand to lead me right to the back of the house. Once there, I saw Hanako help Genya use a wooden table to smash one of the glass windows so we could escape. At that moment, we heard a pained yell and turned our heads to see Mama get kicked into another room through the screen door. "Mama.", I said in a quiet and tearful tone before joining Sanemi in jumping through the hole in the glass window. Once we had all jumped through the smashed glass window, we started running. After a while of this, we slowed down and switched to walking. "Excuse us.", another voice said and we turned around to see some swordsmen coming towards us. "Do any of you know where we would be safe at?", he asked. "Yes, we do.", the swordsmen replied. They then put us onto their backs and started running forward before we all fell asleep. The next morning, we all woke up in a large room while each laying underneath a futon. "What is this place?", Takeo asked. "I wish I could say.", I replied as we sat all upright under each futon.
