More quickly than I expected.

I put him down and allowed
him some room, putting
myself between him and Jin,
just in case.

Joon came in and took in
the situation.

Which would require
explanation.

"Jungkook?"

"I'm just protecting the
alpha's omega in case this
one gets feisty."

"First shift and all."

The human in the bed gaped
at the cub.

"What the hell is going...wait, what is happening to him?"

He sat up, wincing in pain.

"He's having trouble." Joon mentioned.

"Cub, you will shift."

I watched on, fully expecting
the cub to shift into a boy
but nothing happened.

In fact, the wolf seemed to struggle harder.

We all stared at it as Joon
moved to Jin's side and dismissed me with a nod
from protecting his mate.

"What's his name." I asked
the human who looked to me
and audibly swallowed.

"Dalsu."

"We call him Dalsu."

"Dalsu, listen to my voice."

"Shift." I commanded with the alpha inside me.

Though I wasn't alpha of this pack, the dominance remained inside me, tamped down
only by pack rights and responsibilities.

The wolf whimpered a little
but then did as I commanded, shifting in place into a boy,
no more than four or five in
human years.

"My son." The human screeched.

The little boy took inventory
of himself, patting his chest
and legs before bolting toward the human, calling out.

"Daddy!"

That was his dad.

Although we had pretty well confirmed that

The dad who was human and
had no fucking clue about shifters.

I wondered how Joon was
going to handle all of this.

How? I had no clue.

But he was alpha of this pack.

He would deal.

The boy hugged his father tight.

Joon's fists were on his hips
and he looked around with widened eyes at the scene.

"Trenton, I think all of us are going to need some tea."

"Calming or knocking-out or make-some-sense tea."

"Something."

The healer snorted but went
to work, mixing up some concoctions while humming.

A million thoughts flitted
through my mind.

My wolf was rolling inside me, clawing and trying to get out, trying to get at this human.

What in the world would my
wolf want with a human?

He couldn't be mine.

He was not a shifter.

Jin was different.

There was some shifter in
his DNA but this man?

No fucking way.

Still, something about the
scene of the reunion stabbed
at my heart and made it
thrum uncontrollably.

The boy had listened to me.

Somehow, we were connected.

And today was not the day
to spring this shit on me.
