While everyone celebrated the news of Sardar Khan's visit, there was someone whose heart sank, Nandani stood at the common corridor looking at the preparations; with a dead body in her wardrobe, Sardar Khan was the last thing she was expecting.
"Agar main pakdi gayi.. toh woh mujhe wapas Amritsar parcel kar dega... Ullu da putha toh hai hi woh..dimag pehle se bhi jyada kharab ho gaya hai ab" Nandani mumbled biting her nails.
(If i get caught he would definitely parcel me to Amritsar.)
"Khaani... " Sister Martha whispered.
"Jee... Aap itna dheere kyu bol rahi hain" A bewildered Nandani asked.
(Why your voice is low)
"Sardar Khan aane wale hain... Aap unko kamre mein mat jaane dena.." Sister Martha suggested and Nurse Thomas nodded in agreement.
(Don't let him enter the room)
Screech... With that his jeep halted infront of the main gate of the refugee camp. Everyone came running to welcome their leader, their protector, their Khan. Laden in white pathaani and a brown blazer he looked exotic. It was a rare sight to see him dressed in anything other than black... In white he looked pristine and pure.
"Mashallah... Aaj aap behad haseen o jameil lag rahe hain... Aapka swagat hai Sardar. Dekhiye, ladkiyon ne kitni taiyaari ki hai.." Gangu Bai urf Mai welcomed Sardar Khan with Jasmine garland. It was a Bazaar tradition, they had been following it since ages now.
(You are looking handsome. You are welcome. Look how the girls have prepared everything)
"Shukriya Mai.."Sardar Khan smiled, but his eyes were roaming in the crowd, travelling to the far end. They were searching for her. He promenaded looking around each and every corner of the camp. His heart raced, uncertainty piled in.. had she run away.. again.
(Thank you Mai)
" Aap toh eid ka chand ho gaye hain Sardar.." Ruby remarked from a distance. Her daring pronouncement caught his attention.
(You have become eid's moon)
Sardar Khan was never the one who entertained frankness. Ruby being a regular visitor of his lonely nights had the impression of a liberty which he had never bestowed her with. She needed to know her place. *A low life, is a low life* he sighed; that's when his eyes fell on the serene beauty standing at the farthest most corner of the corridor. Draped in white chudidaar, she looked divine. Her eyes piercing through the crowd, her gaze held him... They commanded him. They were questioning. That's when he realised, Ruby was standing close to him. Like an obedient child he took steps away from Ruby. Raising his eyebrows he again looked at her. By now her gaze has softened. They roamed around before she looked away and went inside the room. He smirked - the minx.
"Mera chand toh mujhe nazar aa gaya.." Sardar Khan replied still looking at the corridors. Looking back to Zamindar Kadam Singh, he said " I sm going to rest... Kindly don't disturb me." Saying this Sardar Khan paced towards the farthest most corner of the corridor. The room that was allocated to Nandani.
(I saw my moon)

Refugee Camp Room
10:20 A.M.
Nandani paced infront of the wooden door of the room. She was nervous, fidgeting her white dupatta, she somehow wished the dead body to vanish in thin air- how they used to do in those magic shows.
"Begum... Salaam. Kesi hain aap" Khan Murtasim wished her standing right behind her. They were close, his hot breathe was fanning her slender neck.
(Hello wife. How are you)
"Ye Ruby kaun hai.." Nandani asked turning towards him. Her eyes were commanding . They demanded an answer and Murtasim knew that nothing could save his already sinking love ship now.
(Who is Ruby)
