24 : Jealousy and insecurity

Meerab looked at the pendant carefully which looked so elegant and beautiful. This time this pendant is more beautiful than the last one but she is not happy to see this, nor she is happy to wear it because she doesn't want to give him any chance. She doesn't have any expectations from the word love now anymore and his sweet words and gifts can't melt her. She is successful enough to buy everything herself without anyone's help. She caressed the pendant for the last time as this non-living thing contained a sweet memory. Even though it is changed into a nightmare at that time it was one of the best gifts. She packed the pendant in the box again and placed the chit back on the flower bouquet

"Give these back to him and ask him to never sent these things", Meerab said with a smile. "Ishq ke aage sab kuch harme ko taiyar ho jati tumhare lea. But not now. Himmat nahi hai us aziyat se dobara guzarne ki. I am done with you", Meerab said while seeing the retreating figure of the man who walked out of her cabin to meet Murtasim with the flower bouquet.

Meerab started to continue with her work and asked the next person to come. Virat entered her cabin holding one file which made Meerab realize that she forgot going to the police station. She widened her eyes in shock at the realization. Her heart started to thump heavily because of the fear and anxiety

"Hello, Meerab. Did you go yesterday?", Virat asked and sat on the chair in front of her. Meerab looked down and shook her head in shame. She knew it was important yet she forgot. How can she be so irresponsible? What he will think of her? What if he loses a case because of her?

"Sorry, I forgot. I am extremely sorry Virat", Meerab apologized and he smiled in return

"It's ok. It happens. I will go now then. Are you interested in joining me? We will have coffee together. It's been days", he said to which Meerab nodded with a chuckle. She asked him to wait for a while until she finished her work and postpone other cases by just taking the files and asking people to come here tomorrow as well. After a while, she came out when while walking Virat noticed Meerab walking barefoot

"Meerab don't you have shoes anymore? Tell me I will purchase one or 2 sets for you because you are very stingy (kanjoos) ", he said pointing towards her foot which made Meerab realize that she was walking barefoot. She face palmed herself and ran inside to wear her shoes. She opens it most of the time as she feels uncomfortable while sitting the whole day with shoes. She opens them and wears them when she has to go home and that's her routine which she forgot today

She came back after 2 minutes and asked him to walk. "I guess you have a memory problem. You forget things so easily", Virat said and giggled while walking but his reply made Meerab wonder if she actually forgot everything or not. If she does then why can't she forget Murtasim? Why did his memories hurt her daily?

"Or jo bhulna hai vo bhulti nahi", she said to herself in a low voice which confused him. He couldn't even hear anything properly and asked "What?",

"Nothing let's go", she said and they walked towards his car. Virat opened the door of the car for her first and then walked towards the driving seat to start driving towards the police station.

"Yeh kiske sath gai?" Murtasim thought when he noticed Meerab sitting in someone's car. Be ran behind her but couldn't run faster and asked one man who was coming out struggling with his bag. Murtasim helped him to hold the bag and went to the car of that man. The man thanked him and was about to go after thanking him when Murtasim asked

"Who is he?", Murtasim asked

"He is also a lawyer and he is very close to mam. Go to the court you will find them", the man replied to which Murtasim nodded, and after getting more information regarding the court he decided to wait for them in the court hoping that he would find them there. His blood is boiling after noticing someone laughing with his Meerab and taking her somewhere. How can Meerab go with someone like this? She was never like this before. Why she is doing this?
