"Sh, sh, sh, sh," I say gently using my hand on the back of her head to hold her close
"If," I start but stop when I feel myself braking
I take a second to collect myself
"If you have loads of fun," I say my voice cracking
"It'll go by so much faster!" I say forcing a smile
"But I won't have fun without you," She sighs sadly
My Mom walks into the room
"Are you sure about that?" I ask
"You'll get to go play with baby Gracie, you can hang out with your Dad," I list off some of the things I know she loves
"G-Gracie's only just got four," She pants
"A-And I don't want to play wit her! I wanna play wif you!" she continues panting
"Y/n," Mom sighs kneeling in front of us
"We have to go now, come on," Mom says picking her up by the armpits
Right as Mom does this she lets out the most blood-curdling scream known to man.
We hold hands until our fingertips are the only thing left connecting us
"Selena," Mom says seriously so I let go
She starts kicking and thrashing about but since she's inherited my height all my Mom has to do is hold her out in front of her and walk out,
"Hold on," I whimper
I notice Mr bananas on the floor and I know Y/n needs him especially because of everything I'm putting her through.
I take the monkey and walk it over to where Hudson is at the door
"She needs this," I say wiping the tears as they come out of my eyes
I hold the monkey out in front of me and he takes it
"No, no, no, no!"
"I don't want to! No, no!" I hear y/n sob down the hall
I slowly back into the room and collapse onto the bed just staring at the ceiling, listening to the sounds of my daughter cry for me.
After about 10 minutes the crying eventually stops but I can still make out the sounds of sniffles and whimpers
"Hey Selena," I hear Mom's voice followed by the sound of the door clicking open
"Mom!" I exclaim jumping off the bed
"I am so sorry I didn't mean to. I'm so sorry," I cry
"It's okay Baby," Mom says pulling me into a hug
Eventually, she lets go and we sit on the bed together
"You didn't leave Y/n alone out there right?" I ask
"No of course not, Hudson's talking to her," She smiles sadly
I place my head on her shoulder and we sit in silence for awhile
