"I know Benji" His dad patted his back
He sighed and stared at the invitation. He wondered how Miranda was feeling about it.
"Mandy" Her mother crept into her room. She was home on break from college.
"Yes" Miranda was sitting on her bed reading a textbook
"Mail" Her mother handed her the same red envelope Ben had just opened
"My wedding" Her eyes widened as she read it
"I wish it was later but yes" Her mother sighed
"But I'm in college. I want to go to med school. I want to be a surgeon" She threw the invitation "I don't want that"
"Mandy" Her mother sat on the bed
"That's the way our society is," They said in unison
"I know Mom" She sighed
On their wedding day, Ben woke up with a sense of nervousness and excitement. Today was the day he would finally meet his soulmate and start their journey together. He had waited for this day his entire life and now that it was here he felt that same giddy feeling he used to get when staring at her picture and thinking about her.
Miranda, on the other hand, was feeling overwhelmed with mixed emotions. She was anxious to finally meet her soulmate, but at the same time, she was scared that they wouldn't have a strong connection. And that he wouldn't understand her. What if she hated him? What if he hated her? They didn't know each other and yet here they were about to get married because some system said they were meant to be together.
As they both got ready for their big day, they couldn't help but think about each other. But nothing could prepare them for the moment they would see each other for the first time. They both were nervous, excited, worried, and a whole bunch of emotions neither of them could process.
As Miranda walked down the aisle, Ben couldn't take his eyes off her. He was in awe of her beauty and felt an inexplicable connection to her. Miranda, too, couldn't help but feel drawn to Ben.
"Hello" He politely smiled and waved "I'm Benjamin"
"Mandy" She smiled
"I have looked at your pictures for a long time growing up. You have grown into a beautiful young woman. If you don't mind me saying"
"Considering I'm about to be your wife. I don't mind" She blushed
They exchanged vows and declared their devotion to each other, and as they looked into each other's eyes. When they both heard the words you may now kiss the bride both of them swelled with nervousness. Miranda was worried she was going to throw up on Ben. Ben was worried he was going to bump heads with her something. They did a quick little peck and immediately pulled away. Awkwardly smiling and chuckling.
Their wedding reception was filled with laughter, dancing, and food. Family and friends congratulated the newlyweds, but Ben and Miranda only had eyes for each other. They spent the entire evening talking and getting to know each other, and with each passing moment, their connection grew stronger.
"So you want to be a surgeon" He asked as they were slow-dancing
"I do. Is that a problem"
"No I'm studying to be a doctor too" He laughed
"Really" She couldn't help but be excited
"Anesthesiologist. Maybe I'll be in all your surgeries and I can watch you do your stuff and I can tell everyone hey that's my soulmate" He smiled
"You're charming" She laughed
