Backstory: as you can probably tell by the last name and the appearance his mother is yoruichi and he was raised by her until he was 5 years old and that's he was made as rukia's bodyguard too keep to make sure rukia was ok, the two quickly became friends and also met up with renji and his friends too Then they got into the soul reaper academy and all trained to be soul reapers while at the school his mother got banished which lead everyone there to hate him or just avoid him but they'd always give him dirty looks but kenji didn't care what they thought he knew his mum had a good reason to do what she did and also he had rukia
Kenji continued his job as rukia's body guard but once she got strong enough they became partners instead which let's just say made certain feelings blossom between the two This is further proved with Rukia always calling him cute especially when he's in his cat form in fact she likes it so much that she gave him a special collar that only she can take off This shows that Kenji and Rukia are absolutely inseparable and if someone tries to pull them apart they'll be sorry
