"The Cadence of Change"

I felt incredibly sad; 
The rhythm of the music resonated through my entire being, 
Beating and pumping my blood, 
Sending shivers and chills throughout my body. 
It wasn't fear— 
It was more than that, 
A feeling somewhat surreal, 
Even hard to comprehend.

Was this the right choice?

The decision I'd made, 
And the path I chose, 
Left me engulfed in a deep sense of loneliness— 
Almost a longing. 
Everything around me was slowly changing 
From what it used to be, 
All because of what I'd done.

If this is peace, 
I don't want it— 
Or perhaps it's merely the fact 
That I felt I let something important go.

I'm not ready, 
I'm sorry.
