Not long after introducing herself to Percy, Clover left the Hermes Cabin. She was going to try the climbing wall again, as she was determined to get better. However, the moment she saw her best friend that thought went out the window.

Clarisse was setting up for sparring when Clove came up beside her.

"Busy?" The daughter of Tyche asked

The curly haired girl shook her head, "Never for you."

Clove smiled and took her best friend's hand before walking towards the woods.

"Why are we going into the woods?" The daughter of Ares asked

"Because you need a break." The slightly younger girl replied

The rest of the walk had comfortable silence. Finally, the two came up on a clearing and sat down, well Clove sat down and Clarisse laid with her head in her lap.

Clover started gathering flowers for herself, "I figured you could use some peace and quiet for a while." She explained

Clarisse smiled up at her best friend. Her best friend was right, she could use a break, "Don't let me fall asleep." She told her

The other girl made an affirming noise as she started to weave the flowers she collected together.

"And done." Clove announced as she held up a flower crown

Clarisse gave the crown a small glance, "Pretty." She said as her gaze shifted back to her best friend

The smile that Clove gave could have blinded anyone, "I made it for you." She said before she placed the crown on Clarisse's head

Before she could respond footsteps were heard, "Clarisse!" Someone called, "Let's go! You said you wanted to see the New Boy awake!" They hollered

The daughter of Ares sprang up from her position- as if she was afraid of someone seeing her like that- and ran off.

However, what Clarisse failed to realize is that she left behind the flower crown Clover had made for her.

The daughter of Tyche looked down at her lap and sighed sadly as she picked up the left behind crown.

She stood up and started walking back to the Hermes cabin.

It didn't matter that she didn't take the flower crown. Clover tried to convince herself

She could repeat that to herself all she wanted. In her heart, she knew it was a lie.

It did matter that Clarisse left behind the gift she had made for her.

"Why the long face?" Charles Beckendorf asked as he and Silena Beauregard sat down with Clover at lunchtime

She moved her food around her plate, "I made a flower crown for Clarisse but she left it." She admitted

The son of Hephaestus and the daughter of Aphrodite were silent for a moment before she broke it, "In the past couple of months, how many gifts have you made for her that she doesn't take with her or she gives away?" Silena asked gently
