The summer of 95' for Juliet was abysmal. After the shocking death of Cedric Diggory they canceled the end of year exams for all those not in O.W.L.S or N.E.W.T.S levels, and ended the year early. And unlike most of her friends who went off on lavish vacations with their families Juliet was bound to her the Manor.
It started with her mother making engagement plans. A goblin jeweler had come to the house and measured Juliet's left ring finger and leafed through every style and cut of ring imaginable. Of course her mother brought out her own ring collection full of Black and Malfoy family heirlooms. Her mother had kept reminding her that she wasn't actually picking out her engagement ring but giving her future husband options in case he didn't have a ring already picked out. In the past it was custom for the male to propose with his mother or grandmother's ring, that had been handed down for generations. Now though some men went out to a shop and just selected a ring they liked, or they used the stones of an old family heirloom but reconstructed and redesigned it more to the liking of the female. Juliet really didn't care what ring she got but she selected a few to appease her mother.
