chapter ninety three

"Mum please." Atticus whined, being brought back into a hug, Atticus looking at Nora with help. "I'll see you two later, we have a date together—"

"Ariana please, they are just children." Benjamin spoke; knowing it was anything but a date. Trying to not be grossed out by that detail, Nora and her best friend made their way onto the train; finding a spot to sit down.

Laying down on one side and Atticus leaning against the wall with his legs spread out, Nora's stomach was beginning to worry when she got on the train, turning her head to look at Atticus. "You have the ring?" She asked, specifically wearing pockets today for this reason.

"You know Nora, I asked my dad about promise rings, and it basically means—"

"Nope. Not another word on this, I haven't even told regulus." Nora interrupted, switching one of her other rings to wear James, keeping it casual as she put it on her right middle finger, switching it with the same ring she has with Sirius on her "wedding" finger on the right.

Atticus couldn't help but stare at Nora with such concern, watching his best friend doing things that she's not thinking clearly on. It was one thing to play a double life with the dark lord and Dumbledore, but now her love life is being affected, choosing someone she fancied very much or staying loyal to her family.

It seemed James was the only one that wasn't using her for his own personal gain, yet at times Atticus worried that he was to get rid of Lily Evans, who he also shares a confined dormitory with.

"You're right, I'm sorry. You know what you're doing." Part of Atticus was being sarcastic, not helping it, and yet he wished Nora could see that. Sitting up in her seat, Nora looking at the beautiful ring as she sighed, getting up.

"I'm going to talk to James." She said, ignoring a small grin on her friend's face, opening the door and forgetting where they usually sit, hoping to find them near the Gryffindors instead.

Fiddling with the ring James gave her, Noras eyes completely came towards Lily instead of James, noticing her hair with layers and bangs, being a completely different person. Walking over towards her as Lily felt the need to hug the girl, Nora greeted herself towards McKinnon, Meadows and McDonald, all the girls smiling at her.

"How was your Christmas, love?" McKinnon asked, eating a chocolate frog. "Oh uh, good, and yours?" She asked the group, all of them nodding their heads.

"Oh please, they barley remember it because they were getting sloshed at parties." Lily said, sitting back down. "Oh what party?" Nora asked, trying to create some sort of conversation.

"Well there was one on Christmas Eve at my house, and then James had one on new years, it was fun, if I'm remembering correctly." McKinnon said, shrugging her shoulders. "Oh yeah, do we still know why James was late to the Christmas Eve one?"

Freezing in her spot and watching the girls all look at eachother, Nora couldn't help but he a little offended she wasn't asked to go to the New Year's party, even if she were to shut that down— would've been nice to be asked.

"I, uh better go. Any chance you've seen Lupin? I need to ask him something." Nora asked, cutting their conversation short. "Just down a few more cabins, maybe some day I could do your hair black?" McKinnon said, Lily shaking her head.

"My hair only turned out like this because I went to the salon to fix it." Walking away and hearing the girls bickering, Nora wished she had that type of banter, knowing the banter she only has with Atticus is who is better at dating at the moment, and so far neither of them was winning.

Walking past many cabins until she saw one with four familiar faces, Nora opened the day nobody invited her to do that, nodding at all the boys. "Ah Nora, how's my favourite sister?" Sirius asked, going in for a hug, thinking she was here for him.
