John Dory will have a crush, but it will be one-sided for an extremely long time. He gets attached to people easily since he was alone for so long. No, I don't actually ship it, nor do I think it even makes sense, it just kinda fits in this story? (It's gay)

Nobody's perspective:

Poppy, Branch, Biggie, and John Dory are now looking for the Hat Finder. Totally no one expected this, but Branch started whining. "Ugh, what is so important about a hat? Just get another one!"

"Branch, Mr. Dinkles really likes this hat, okay? Just like how you like that vest." Biggie says, pointing at it. Branch looks at it and sighs.

"But I don't wanna do this anymore!" He cries, falling to his knees.

"Quite a dramatic..." JD said quietly to Poppy.

"Branch, we've only been walking for two days." Poppy says, crouching down to his level. Branch still looks upset. "Plus, what if Creek gets me?"

Branch immediately stands up. "You're right, babe- I mean, Poppy. I shall protect you." He states, walking again.

John looks at Poppy with a confused look. Poppy shrugs. They start to walk again. Biggie looks at the map. "Hmm... Are we going the right way?" He asks himself.

"Of course, we are! I can feel it!" Poppy replies.

Branch looks at the map. "No, we're actually going the complete opposite way..." He says, devastated.

"Oh... Maybe Branch should take the map, then..." John Dory says, raising an eyebrow.

"No, duh." Branch says, snatching the map from Biggie's hands.  He starts to walk in the right direction, looking at the map still.

"Yo, Branch? What are you doing around here?" A voice says. Branch looks up from the map.

He sighs. "Clay. Hello." He says, rolling up the map and putting it in his pocket. "I'm looking for a so called, "Hat Finder" so we can find Mr. Dinkles' hat."

"Oh, okay. That's pretty cool. They going too?" He asks, pointing at Poppy, Biggie, and John Dory.

"Yeah..." He says reluctantly.

"Viva! What are you and Clay doing out here?!" Poppy squeals, running up to Viva and hugging her. She spins her around a little.

"Hey, Poppy!" Viva hugs her back. "We're just trying to explore what I missed together!" She explains.

Poppy lets go of her. "Oh, that's nice!"

Clay walks toward Viva so they're standing next to each other. "Yeah, he is really nice. Second best troll ever!" Viva says, shaking his arm a little.

"Haha, yeah..." Clay says, looking away.

John Dory looks at them. "Let me guess, they're gonna start dating too. This isn't fair." John Dory whispers to himself. He starts to slowly back up. He soon just walks away with no one noticing.

"You didn't have to say that, Viva..." Branch comments.

"Why not?" She asks, looking at Branch. Biggie can't help but chuckle.
