The Mirror of Erised
[A door opens and then it closes. On the other side, there is a vast, empty room that has a large mirror in the center known as the Mirror of Erised. Anna appears and walks over to the mirror. In the reflection, She sees two people appear who are Anna's late parents, James and Lily Potter.]
Regulus gasped.
"What's Mirror of erised doing in school full of childen?" Asked outraged Narcissa.
"What is that?" Asked James.
"It showes you your heart's deepest desire. It drives people crazy and makes them lose line between reality and dream." Said Barty. Everyone looked worried.
Anna: Mum? [Lily nods and smiles] Dad? [James nods and smiles. Anna reaches out to touch them but only gets the mirror.]
"It's her first time seeing you." Said Remus sadly. James and Lily watched this with tearful eyes.
[Then, her mother puts her hand on Anna's shoulder. She puts her own hand on her own shoulders, as if trying to feel her there.]
Lily and James smile sadly at her.
[Back in the girl's dormitory in Gryffindor tower, Anna comes whipping in, invisible.]
Anna: Rose, you've really got to see this! Rose, you've got to see this! [pulls back covers. Rose wakes up.] Rose, Rose, come on, get out of bed!
Rose: [tired] fuck off.
Barty and Sirius snicker.
Anna: There's something you've got to see. Now, come on!
Rose: This better be good. [Back in the room. Anna and Rose appear as if magically and Anna runs to the mirror.]
Anna: Come on! Come! Come look, it's my parents!
Rose: I only see us.
Anna: [moves over] Look in properly. Go on, stand there. There. You see them, don't you? That's my dad.
"She just wants her parents." Said Remus sadly.
Rose: That's me! I look good, but much older. I'm an auror and I'm holding hands with a man. I can't see him, through. Wait, We are wearing wedding rings. Anna, do you think this mirror shows the future?
Anna: How can it? Both my parents are dead. [Anna smiles sadly.]
Rose: Shit! Sorry! I didn't think.
Anna: It's ok... You havn't told me, you wanted to be an auror.
Rose: Well... i haven't realised i wanted it before seeing it in the mirror. [One day, in the Great Hall where most of the studlents, particularly the Weasleys are eating, Anna sits in front of the fireplace.]
George: Do you like yours, Rose? [Rose turns to Anna who still sits in front of the fireplace who is very quiet.] Rose?
Rose: Sorry, I'll be right back. [She leaves the table and comes up to Anna.] Want to play chess?
Anna: No.
Rose: Wanna go and visit Hagrid?
Anna: No.
Rose: Anna, I know what you're thinking, but don't. There's something not right about that mirror.
"Listen to her!" Said worried Lily.
[Anna nods and Rose leaves to go back to the table as Anna continues to stare at the fireplace.]
[The next night, Anna is back in the room where the mirror is, gazing longingly at the reflection where her parents are in. Dumbledore appears far behind her.]
Lily sights.
Dumbledore: Back again, Anna? [Anna turns around and stands up.]
"Wait. Wait. Did i hear it correctly?! He knew Anna was coming to see mirror and didn't stop her?!" Said angry Lily.
Dumbledore: I see that you, like so many before you have discovered the delights of the Mirror of Erised. I trust by now you realize what it does. Let me give you a clue. The happiest man on earth would look into the mirror and see only himself, exactly as he is.
Anna: So then, it shows us what we want. Whatever we want.
Dumbledore: [whilst looking at the mirror] Yes. And no. It shows us nothing more or less than the deepest most desperate desires of our hearts. Now you, Anna, who have never known your family, you see them standing beside you. But remember this, Anna. This mirror gives us neither knowledge or truth. Men have wasted away in front of it. Even gone mad. That is why tomorrow it will be moved to a new home. And I must ask you not to go looking for it again. It does not do to dwell on dreams, Anna, and forget to live. [Anna looks back at the mirror, knowing that Dumbledore is right.]
