(The next day)

Jake's pov

I brought Nareum home last night and told her to meet me in my office today although it's friday.

She came in and sat on the couch while rubbing her eyes.

"Tired?"
I asked and she hummed in response.

"I'm sorry for last night again"
I came and sat next to her.

"You don't need to apologise anymore. I'm willing to stay. Life is short, why not take the risk with you?"
She slipped off her shoes and hugged her knees.

Jungwon motioned from behind that he was going to leave so Nareum and I were alone now.

"You're playing a dangerous game, I hope you're aware of that"
I rest my head on my palm, looking at her.

"I know. Especially with someone like you"
She replied, gazing at me.

"You mean someone like you? You're...definitely something"
I laughed, amused.

"What do you mean?"
She asked.

"Do you remember the first time we met?"
I asked back.

"At the cafeteria, yes"
She replied.

"You don't remember, huh?"
I slightly grinned.

"Why? That's when I first saw you. I didn't do my job interview"
She said, confused.

"You were drunk that night, walking towards your house. But then you saw car parked outside and someone threw trash out of the window"
I stopped there to let her process.

"Don't tell me that was.."
Her eyes turned fierce.

"It was me in the car. You were nagging so much-"
I let out a gasp.

Nareum suddenly jumped on top of me, grabbing my collar tightly.

"You piece of sh*t, you made me look like an idiot"
She said, infuriated.

"Relax. You were just drunk. Don't tell me you're seriously mad at me for littering?"
I held her wrists and pulled her hands away from my collar.

She looked annoyed, pouting. She cane up with a lame excuse to defend herself.

"You are polluting the environment"
She huffed, pointing a finger at me.

A few seconds later, I heard the door open.

"OH!"
Jungwon shouted and the door slammed back shut.

Eunseo cupped her mouth, her face turning red from embarrassment.

"I think you should get off me, sweetheart"
I tickled her stomach and she immediately got up after that.

I laughed and stood up to let Jungwon in.

"It's okay, you can finish what you were doing!"
Jungwon panicked when he saw me and tried to close the door again.

"We weren't doing anything. Come in"
I forced the door open and he almost fell on the way in.

He awkwardly bowed to Nareum and just went back to his original spot.

"I need to ask you something, and that is why are you willing to stay with someone you don't even like?"
I slide my hands into my pockets.

We both walked to the far corner of the room and admired the view of the city.

"It's my gut feeling. I definitely don't like you, but I'd rather give up my love interests to fulfil yours. I've never exactly, liked any guy"
She answered truthfully.

"And what makes you think I'm worthy of that?"
I asked out of curiosity.

She could choose so many guys to date, but she's choosing to give me a chance.

"Because my heart is telling me to do it. Maybe there's a side of you I don't know, that maybe I could...like"
She shrugged.

"Then what about you? Why do you like me?"
She shot a question back at me.

"Mm, just you. All the things I stated when I first asked you for the favour, I like that about you. However, you too is someone very admirable"
I pushed her hair back out of her face.

"I thought that you'd fit with me visually, but you're more than that. You always have something new to nag at me about every time"
I laughed in amusement.

"That's because you always give me a reason to. It's going to take a while to learn to like you"
She sighed.

"It's okay, a few dates and you'll be head over heels for me"
I patted her head.

"You're funny"
She burst out laughing.

"What?? I can buy whatever you desire"
I said.

"Oh my gosh, I'm not letting you spend anymore money on me. I'm going to set a rule, and that is to not spend a single cent when we're out on dates"
She told me.

"That's impossible. That means I wouldn't be able to take you out for lunch or dinner"
I said, trying to sound reasonable.

"Then you shouldn't. Find a way to spend time with me and make it fun without spending any money. And before we go out, you must tell me where we're going"

"Nareum, that's too difficult"
I said.

"Then find a solution, I won't go out if you're going to keep spending money for us to 'have fun' whatsoever"
She replied.

"You're a hard woman to please"
I commented.

"Nevertheless, you still chose me"
She chuckled.

Nevertheless, I still chose the one I see myself spending my future with.
