it was a warning

Alora woke up the next morning and spotted new clothes at the edge of her bed. A note on it read 'hurry up' with a stupid smiley face. Alora crumpled the note and changed into the clothes. It was a plain black shirt and two-toned red and black pants. Alora put her boots on and made her way down the hall.

When she walked into the dining room Leon and Meeri were laughing. They spotted her and immediately fell quiet. "Good morning princess. Looking good." Alora shut her eyes and shook her head as she sat across from Leon.

"You never were a morning person. " "She's not an anytime-of-day person." Alora decided she already had enough and stood up to leave. "No no, sit down. Stop acting like a child." "Then shut the fuck up for once." Leon's face immediately fell into embarrassment and he just stared at his food. Meeri just scoffed at her sister, used to her behavior.

"Whatever. Just eat your food, I'm taking both of you around Ryuusborough. So you better not be pissy the whole time or I'll leave you out in the valleys." "That literally sounds a lot better than being here." The tension in the room could be cut with a sword. No one else spoke as they ate.

When they were done, Meeri took the dishes and had Leon and Alora wait outside the dining hall for her. "You could try a little harder you know." "You don't know Meeri." "It seems like you don't either." "I know she's full of shit. She's not a liar, but she's not telling us what she really knows."

"Look, we'll get our answers. But for now can you please stop being mean and miserable. For meee." Leon batted his eyelashes and Alora couldn't help but laugh. He was a pain in her ass, but she probably would've killed Meeri by now without him. "I'll try, but I am making no guarantees. It entirely relies on Meeri."

"Fair enough." Alora gave him a slight smile as he nudged her with his arm. Meeri entered the hallway and motioned for them to follow her. "I will warn you, everyone probably knows who you are by now so, prepare for citizens to hand you an unnecessary amount of gifts."

Leon and Alora raised an eyebrow at each other as they exited the castle. The sky was orange and pink as the sun was still rising. It made the villages look more beautiful than they did before and the waterfalls had visible rainbows in them now. They made their way down the path, people nodding their heads and greeting the three as they went.

A small girl ran up to Alora and gave her a fluffy piece of bread with a fruity cream glazed over it. Alora thanked the child as she ran off towards her mother. As they walked down the stairs it felt like everyone was just waiting for them. They were handed so many treats to eat on their adventure through the sacred lands.

Some children handed the trio bracelets and necklaces they had made. One child gave Leon a necklace with a dragonfly charm. It matched Aloras dragonfly earring and Leon understood what the child was thinking. He put it on as he said "I think they have the wrong idea, but I'm not complaining."

Alora shoved him with her elbow as she rolled her eyes. He gave her his stupid smile and Meeri couldn't help but smile herself. "No violence allowed outside those castle walls LoLo." "Then I guess I'll have to kick his ass when we get back." "If it makes you feel better." "It will."

Leon's face contorted with offense but for the first time, the sisters had smiled at each other. People continued to greet them and hand them foods to put in the bags they were given minutes before. They were grateful they wouldn't starve while they explored the island.

"Where are we going first?" "We're gonna circle the entire island. We'll make our way through the mountains, go across the falls, explore the cave sides, and see the super secret location. At the end we'll climb the dragon so you can really see it all." "Climb the dragon!?" Leon almost started to jump up and down like a child.
