Scott was told to be careful, to not go out, and that if he did, then don't go to the forest. But he didn't listen, of course he didn't. He was a werewolf, not allowing him to go to the forest was like not letting a bird fly. And yet, all it took was one hunter holding a shotgun, and with a sharp bang, a yelp, and a thud, he was gone.
(And Oz had been so close to finding him, after Vicky had called him in a panic, saying that Scott had went out and she thinks he went to the forest. At the very least, they knew the hunter got what was coming to him as well.)
