Selection

"Uh, yeah thats me. But Im here just to surf as a normal 17 year old." I say. I hate being treated differently. You never really know whos your friend or who wants your popularity. 

"Im Wren by the way, my brothers a big fan." She says really excitedly.

"Under 18s, this is your 15 minute warning." The announcer says  making me nervous.

"Ok you guys, this is happening. Good luck everyone." The blonde girl says making everyone disperse. 

Poppy goes off with her friends leaving me on the grass to warm up. I look around and see that pink haired guy. Hes pretty cute wont lie, but he looks like trouble which I am staying away from. 

I continue to warm up and Poppy comes up to me. 

"Hey Cory." She says cheerfully.

"Hey Poppsy." I say back matching her energy making her giggle.

"Its your turn soon, you're with Bohdi." She says pointing at a tall girl.

"Ok cool, help me put my vest on?" I say to her as I pull up my wetsuit.

"You've got this, these waves are nothing compared to Hawaii." She says pulling my vest over my head. 

We hear the horn go off indicating its my turn in the water.

"See you later." I say running off into the water.

POV Baxter

I see that pretty girl run into the water, her dark hair flowing in the breeze. Man she is gorgeous, she just looks so familiar. 

I watch her paddle out to the back and wait for a wave. 

Bhodi gets a wave doing a couple of tricks. She ends up getting a second place in her category. 

Its now the pretty girls turn. She lines herself up for a wave, a fast one with a barrel forming. 

"There are a few new faces on the Victorian circuit this year, one being C.Tetanui all the way from Hawaii, lets see how she rips in these waves smaller that shes used to." The announcer says.

Holy shit, shes Cora Tetanui. One of the most amazing up coming surfers, thats where I knew her from. Fuck and I caught her earlier. Damn.

"Tetanui in the purple showing great power and control. Oh look at that 360 ariel she did and landed it sucessfully putting her in first place with the highest score of the day." The announcer says.

"Yess Cora! Doing it Tetenui style" I hear Poppy cheering as Cora gets out the water.

"Shes pretty good isnt she?" I hear from besides me and see Wren standing there.

"Yeah shes crazy." I say in admoration looking at her talking to the other Shorehaven people.

"Remember when you had such a big crush on her and were convinced you were gonna date her?" Wren says laughing at my childish actions.

I sigh and smile remembering how much of a crush I had on Cora a few years ago. I still have a crush on her but never expected to actually meet her one day.
