Adriano's POV

The knowing look Essence held as she and her friend left didn't go unnoticed. She knew what could happen. What was bound to happen.

As the door slammed shut, I focused my attention back to the man before me. He had owed me, along with the rest of the famiglia a lot of money. 2 years worth, he should've been handled a long time ago. I, very fortunately, was here to collect.

Taking off the coat, I listened as Antonio locked the door. I had seen the frightened look on his mother's face. She wasn't innocent at all, in fact she was just as guilty as her incompetent son.

Pulling a chair from the table, my cousin Lorenzo invited Gavin to take a seat. "Let's chat, yea?" He looks at me as I lean forward. "As much as I would love to make this personal, let's keep it professional. Today's payment day Gavin. My father has been extremely lenient with your payments but, I'm not my father."

I removed the gun that had been resting in my waistband and placed it on the table that separated us. His eyes widened as he knew his fate could go one or two ways, depending on his next words.

"Please— I just need more time." Scoffing, I looked to my brothers and cousins as they chuckled at his attempt to plea. "I've been going through a lot. I've been—"

Shaking my head, I raise my hand to silence him. "You've had more than enough time, unless you have something of more value," Leonardo and Lorenzo both raised their weapons and had them pointed at his mother, ready for my command. "I can have your mother deleted from the face of this planet and have your payment cut in half."

"Wait?! I- I don't, just give me another month! Please! Please Adriano, man." He was down at my feet, with tears dancing on his face while pleading for more time.

"I- I do have something of more value! Take her!" My ears perked at the words, trying to comprehend what I had just heard.

Her.

"Who on earth are you speaking of Gavin?" Say it. Say it so I can put you 6 feet under you low life—

"Essence."

"I love her dearly. Surely she can count as 350k." Looking blankly at his face, I tried my hardest to search for humor. Sadly, I found none. He was dead serious.

I laughed, laughed until I had tears falling. My cousins looked to my brothers as if I had gone mad.

The fact he was willing to sale his ex-fiancé in exchange for debt clearance was comical. This man truly had no shame along with no fucking braincells.

"Yes. Yes, take essence. She's a good girl, good girl. A little bit too big in the form if you ask me but-" snapping my head to the woman who spoke, she flinched as she looked at me. I'm sure my eyes screamed a thousand threats.
