January 2014. The series ended the same way except for one difference. Rory did get the internship at the New York Times. After Rory's graduation, she and Logan went their separate ways. This is what their lives look like almost 7 years later.

After graduating from Yale, Rory started her internship at the New York Times. When her internship was over, she got a job at the Hartford Courant. That was where she met Matthew Harris, who was also a writer. They dated for over two years before getting engaged on New Year's Eve 2010, and they got married on June 1st 2010. 11 months later, in April of 2011, Matthew was hit by a drunk driver on his way to work, and two weeks after losing her husband, Rory found out that she was pregnant. Matthew Jacob Harris was born on December 28th 2011.

January 2014:

Rory was sitting in her house in Hartford, drinking coffee with her mom. Lorelai noticed Rory spinning her wedding ring around her finger. That was something she did whenever she was nervous or upset. "What's wrong?"

"What?" Rory asked, snapping herself out of her thoughts.

"I asked what's wrong"

"Nothing" Rory said.

"Rory, I've been your mother for 29 years. I can tell when something's bothering you"

"It's nothing" Rory said. "Just work stuff"

Lorelai knew it was more than that, but she didn't wanna push. "Hey, did you pick a daycare?"

Up until that point Rory would work from home 2 or 3 days a week so she could be with her son, and the rest of the time, her mother in law, Amy, would watch him and she'd go into the office. Rory had decided that once Matthew turned 2, she would go back to work full time, and send Matthew to daycare, but she was finding it harder than she thought to find a place she trusted. "I think so" she said. "But I'm gonna go see the place in person next week"

Before Lorelai could say anything, they heard Matthew crying so Rory went upstairs to get him. "Hi bubba. Did you have a good nap"

"Mama" Matthew said and reached for Rory.

"Come here" Rory said as she picked him up.

"Mommy, lion" Matthew said and pointed at his little stuffed lion that was still in his crib. The lion was a gift from Amy, when Matthew was born.

Rory got Matthew his lion before bringing him downstairs to where Lorelai was still sitting in the kitchen. "Hey there, sleepy" Lorelai said. "Can I take you?"

As soon as Rory went to give Matthew to Lorelai, he started freaking out. "No mama! No mama! Mama no!"

"Ok. Ok" Rory said and sat down across from Lorelai and the kitchen island and put Matthew on her lap. "You're grumpy when you wake up"

"He just looks more and more like Matthew every day, doesn't he?" Lorelai said.

"You know, not long after Matt and I decided to have a baby, he read something about how kids tend to look more like their dad, and I told him that if I went through 9 months of pregnancy just for our kid to look exactly like him, I would be pissed" Rory said. "Never would've thought that it would be one of my favorite things"

"I know" Lorelai said softly.

Rory took a deep breath. "Alright...I have to go"

"Ok" Lorelai said and took Matthew from Rory. "Say bye bye to mommy"

"No bye bye" Matthew said. "Mommy stay"

"I have to go baby" Rory said and kissed the top of his head. "I'll be back soon"
