*I love you Murtasim... I love you so much.. it's either you or I will choose to die...* He remembered the trembling Little Nandu, drenched in rain standing outside the Khan Haveli, in the middle of the night. The night when he had decided to pursue his medicine studies in London. The night he decided to go far away from her. The night when he finally got her. All to himself. Now his love had a voice -the voice of Nandani.
"Wahan khade khade apni harkat par sharminda ho rahe ho.." Anwar asked coming out of his room.
(Are you embarrassed of your actions)
"Meri harkat..? Aisa kya kar dia maine." Murtasim replied nonchalantly. He wasn't willing to discuss the woman who had given him sleepless nights for a few days..
(What have i done)
"You have kidnapped a woman Murtasim, aur puchte ho kya kia tumne...! Kahan hai woh.." Anwar clenched his jaw holding Murtasim left elbow.
(And you are asking, what have you done)
"Woh mere paas apni marzi se hai... Woh mere sath hi rahegi, kyunki woh mere sath rehna chahti hai." Murtasim replied, looking at a worried Anwar.
(She is with me by her iwn will. She will stay with me, because she wants to stay)
"Aur Kahan rakhoge tum usko..? " Anwar questioned. He was astonished with the audacity of the young man standing infront of him. He didn't sound anywhere close to the calculative Sardar.
(And where are you going to keep her)
"Apni nazron ke saamne Chacha Sahab. And I am not going to give up.." There was a dark unwavering determination in those charcoal eyes. Anwar had seen it, years ago. The fire of his burning passion was going to burn down the very existence of Khans. Anwar was scared. He was scared of the towering rage that would be unleashed by this man for the fateful night of 1939. He was scared of the man, Khan Murtasim Khan. He was scared of Nandani's Murtasim.
(Infront of my eyes)
"Woh nahi rahegi tumhare sath.. zid chor do Murtasim. Wajah jo bhi ho... Uski fitrat mein hai hi nahi sath dena." Anwar was determined to stop Murtasim. Nandani had to leave before the revelation of the shameful past.
(She won't live with you. Whatever may be the read, but it's not in ger nature to stay.)
"Let our Sardar decide, Anwar. Aap dono ke bich na bole." Draped in Banarasi silk , Nadia Khan emerged from the dark corner of the passageway.
(Don't talk inbetween them)
"Uski marzi se ab kuch nahi hoga...aap fikar na kare. Jab mera kaam ho jayega, i will let her go." Murtasim assured Anwar, who was clearly not buying anything now. His unwanted intrusion had now started to irk Murtasim.
(Nothing will happen by her free will now. You don't worry. When my work will be done, i will let her go)
"See our Sardar has everything planned. He knows what he is doing. Haina Murtasim Khan..?" Nadia asked. There was a stark of sarcasm in her voice, which didn't go unnoticed by Murtasim.
"Jee..." Murtasim simply nodded before leaving the awkward conversation. He wasn't liking the non-serious comments of Nadia over his equation with Nandani. Well, sadly she had witnessed the glimpse of their past. Nandani and Murtasim were an open secret in aisle of Lahore.
Khan Murtasim stood near the Jharoka of his dimly lit room, contemplating the recent events of his life. His mind kept on going back to injured Nandani in hospital bed. Keeping her hidden would be a task. What if she runs away again. He needed a concrete solution to it. He knew what needed to be done.
"Sardar aapne yaad kia..." Parthav knocked the wooden door, breaking Murtasim's chain of thoughts.
(Sardar you called)
"Hmm... Shashtri Ji ke koi kareebi dost thhe na.. woh vakil thhe..tumhe yaad hai..?" Khan Murtasim asked twisting his red coral ring.
(Shahtri ji had some lawyer friends. You know him)
