"Blade, please fetch me a cloth." Lillith immediately sprang into action, "Micheal, would you take your shirt off?" My eyes widened as Blade entered the bathroom to get a towel.
"Excuse me?"
Lillith stood and walked over to me as the others worriedly followed, "I need to inspect the wound." She explained, "Please remove your shirt."
I reluctantly agreed. as Blade came back with my towel. My injury, now uncovered, seemed to breathe the fresh air. Now that all the attention was on it, I realized it hurt a lot more than I had anticipated. Lillith gently pressed the towel against the bite, "This will stop the bleeding."
Taylor never took her eyes off of me once while Lillith cleaned me up, fear in her eyes. However, Emily tried her hardest to look anywhere but at me. "What a nice wall." Blade smirked, "Am I right, Emily?"
"Ha-ha." Sarcasm filled Emily's response, her eyes still on the wall. "You're hilarious."
"Emily, why don't you go get the anti-bacterial cream from the dorm?" Lillith suggested, "I believe it resides in the drawer of my nightstand." Emily enthusiastically agreed, happy to have something to do. She was out the door in a blink.
Lillith gently removed the towel from the wound, and I noticed that the bleeding had slowed dramatically. "We need to wash the bite." She exhaled. "However, your shoulder is a difficult place to run water over."
"Is this really that big of a deal?" I complained, "It's fine."
"Taylor, would you quickly wet another cloth and apply soap to it." Lillith placed the first towel back onto my shoulder before continuing, completely ignoring me, "Please make sure the soap is deeply set into it."
In vampire speed, Taylor did exactly as Lillith told. In a flash, she returned with a rag in hand, damp and bubbling with soap. "Thank you." Lillith said as she placed it against the bite. There was a slight sting that I wasn't expecting and I inhaled sharply. She seemed to take no notice as she continued cleaning the gash.
"You really live up to the words on your jacket, Lillith." Xavier nodded in approval, "'The Healer.'"
Lillith smiled in thanks as she continued to clean the wound. "That is the reason it was given to me." She said before looking back at me, "Now, let us hope this bite of yours isn't infected." Infected? I sure hope not.
I nodded right as Emily came back into the room. "I got your cream." She waltzed over and held it out to Lillith.
"Place it on the bed, please, Emily, if you would?" Lillith ordered as she replaced the rag she'd been using to clean with the one she'd used to stop the bleeding. Emily placed the small jar on the bed next to me and I thanked her. "Micheal, now I'm drying the wound. Next, I will place the cream on it, and then I will bandage it. Understand?"
"You're the expert." I responded. I appreciated how she narrated everything she did. I could trust in her work, and I would know what to do next time. If I got some sort of injury, and it wasn't Lillith helping, whoever was taking care of me would silently go about their work. I would never have any idea of what was going on. Lillith has helped me numerous times, even if she wasn't there. Because of her, I knew how to take care of all sorts of wounds. A million thanks would never be enough.
"Are you sure there's nothing else any of us can do to help?" Emily asked.
Lillith sighed deeply. "Not at the moment, but some bandages in a moment would be helpful."
"I have those." I perked up as Lillith started to open the jar Emily had brought. I reached in my pocket to find the bandages I had used for Forrest earlier. "Is this roll good?" I questioned, presenting them to Lillith.
