Nea's POV

It's been two hours since we saw Y/N and the twins. Jasmine and I have been pacing around the room, 'cause we didn't know what else to do. Elle and Natasha have woken up and are also really worried.

Then, my thoughts are interrupted by a door that's opening. We all turn our heads towards it and see the twins and Y/N walking into the room. Doctor Ovanna, who has probably brought them back here, closes the door again and leaves.

I look at Y/N, who is looking very shocked.

"Y/N?" I start. "Is everything okay?"

She shrugs her shoulders.

Danique looks at me. "She hasn't said a thing since she woke up"

"Okay, let's all sit down for a second" Jasmine says. We all sit down in the middle of the room in a circle, waiting for Y/N to explain what happened.

We just look at her, letting her take her time to choose her next words.

She then takes a deep breath.

"Doctor Ovanna made me remember it all" She starts. "All the memories they took from me, all the information I didn't know for years, the reason why they did what they did.. And now I know why"

I can hear our heartbeats fasten. This girl is really gonna be the death of us if she doesn't tell us everything right now. And as if she read my mind, she answers the question we've all been asking ourselves these last seventeen years.

"It's my DNA"

Her DNA?

"Wait, what?" I ask, while furrowing my brows.

"Girl, you gotta give us more then that" Sabine replies, also not getting it.

"When they did all those tests on us years ago, it wasn't to torture us. They were actually studying our DNA and how it's possible that we can do what we do and are who we are"

"But why did it hurt so much then? Couldn't they find another way to do those tests?" Elle asks.

"Yeah, or just tell us what they were doing exactly" Sabine fills in.

Jasmine shakes her head. "I think they didn't tell us because we were too young to understand.. Am I right?"

She looks at Y/N for confirmation.

"Yes" Y/N nods.

Danique shakes her head, still not getting it. "But how were we too young? We developed way faster then normal human beings, both mentally and physically and-"

"That's true" Y/N interrupts. "We were very intelligent for our age, but still young. Too young to understand anything. So they decided to not even try and explain it to us"

"That makes me angry" Elle responds.

"Well that's new, it's really hard to make you angry" Sabine laughs.

Natasha, who's sitting next to her, slaps her arm. "Don't be like that. Now listen to Y/N"

We all turn our attention back to Y/N.

"So, as I was saying" She continues. "They were studying our DNA. But during the tests they did on me, they found out that something was wrong with my DNA. Or more like something was missing.."

Jasmine's eyes widen, probably figuring out what Y/N is implying. "You DNA is incomplete?"

Y/N nods her head slowly.

"Wait" I start. "As in: it's missing DNA parts?"

She nods again.

My eyes now also widen. "Holy shit"

I look at the rest of the group and see them all fitting the pieces together now.

"But how is that possible?" Danique asks.

Y/N shrugs her shoulders, letting her know she doesn't know the answer to that.

Natasha furrows her brows. "But why did they make you forget that?"

"Because if that information would ever get into the wrong hands, they could do really bad things with me"

"Jeez, that sounds dirty" Sabine whispers under her breath, hoping none of us heard that. But we all did.

"Just ignore her" Danique says to the group, while pinching the bridge of her nose.

"Bad things as in.. Turn you into a monster?" Elle asks with widened eyes.

We all turn our heads to her. Did she really just ask that? I mean, sure, she's the youngest and always has been a little childish. But to ask a question like that..

After a moment of complete silence, Sabine bursts into laughter.

"What did I say wrong?" Elle asks innocently.

"Sure Elle, a really big and scary monster"

"Sabine!" Danique whisper yells to her sister.

"What? A stupid question deserves a stupid answer"

Danique just rolls her eyes in disappointment.

"And as if we aren't already seen as monsters, Danique. The world sure does"

"That's not true. Sabine, shut your mouth" Jasmine comes in. She then turns her attention to Elle. "Elle, don't listen to her. She may be right, but we're not mosters. You and I both know that"

Elle just nods her head.

"But it's true though" Y/N now comes in.

Our heads snap back at her.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"Well, it's true. They could turn me into a monster"

Sabine stops laughing immediately and is now looking at Y/N with a straight face. "Oh you were serious about that? Shit.."

It's quiet for a moment. We're all probably processing the whole conversation we just had.

"Well" Jasmine starts. "Let's not think about that. Luckily nothing like that ever happened"

"And I'm also not gonna let that happen" Y/N responds. "I'm not the small cub from back then, I'm strong now"

"Yeah, we've seen that these last couple of weeks" Sabine mumbles.

Y/N rolls her eyes. "Well, talk to me again after you've been drugged constantly for days, smart ass"

Sabine nods her head slowly. "Good point"

"So" I start. "What are we gonna do now?"

"Easy. Save Neteyam first, then escape this fucking place. I got my answers, now let's go" Y/N says.

We all nod in agreement.

"But how are we gonna do that, though?" Danique asks.

"Well, the last battle we fought together, we won" Jasmine replies.

Y/N smirks.

"Let's do that again then"

Pffttt it's out.. It's weird to know the answers to all of the questions from the beginning of this story and to finally let them out. But I'm glad they are!!

With that being said, I also wanna tell you guys that the story is almost over. We've only got a few chapters left. There's a really great ending coming, though. So stay tuned!!
