Sharon came to a stop outside of a door and knocked. “Casey our neighbours are here.” Then she opened the door and I saw before me a room full of boxes, half full and half unpacked. As I was scanning the room, I saw him. He had beautiful longish brown hair and amazing honey coloured eyes. He had a shy smile on his face and he was in the middle of unpacking a box labelled ‘books’.

“Casey, this is Skye and she lives next door to us.”

   “Hi,” he said rather quietly.

“Hi,” I replied just as quietly, not sure of what else to say. We both just stood there not knowing what to do.

“Come on Casey, you’re never this quiet. You’re normally bouncing off of the walls...literally.” When she added that at the end, I couldn’t help but giggle slightly.

“Urm...” responded Casey, still unsure of what to say.

“Sharon!” called Matthew from downstairs. “Are you coming down?”

“I suppose that I’ll leave you two to it. Skye, if he doesn’t talk, he’s rude or he bores you, just come and get me, okay?” I just nodded in reply. “Now Casey, make her feel welcome. Understood?” He too just nodded in reply. Then she left, closing the door behind her. So here I was, standing in the room of a boy that I had only just met. An attractive boy at that. All I know is that his name is Casey, he is the same age as me and he has just moved in next door. We just stood there for a while longer, then finally he broke the silence.

   “Hi.”

   “Hi,” I replied again, shyly.

“Urm...I’m not really sure of what to say,” he admitted, blushing slightly, making me giggle a bit more.

   “Me neither,” I confessed.

   “So...urm...you live next door?”

“Mm-hmm,” I replied, nodding my head.

“That’s cool. What school do you go to?”

   “Whitlock.”

“Cool,” he commented once more, smiling this time. “I’m starting there when summer’s over. At least I’ll know someone.” His smile was adorable. “So...is it nice around here.”

“Mm-hmm,” I nodded, I really needed to think of something constructive to say. He just giggled.

   “You know...you don’t say much.”

“Sorry,” I said. “I’m just quiet around new people.”

“Haha. It’s okay, you don’t need to apologise.” He sat down on his bed and patted the empty space beside him. I just looked at him and he laughed. “Come and sit here, you look uncomfortable standing.” I went and sat down next to him. “Better?” he asked.

“Yes thanks,” I replied, he smiled at hearing this.

“So...urm...what kind of things do you like?” he tried striking up a conversation.

“Uh...” I thought about it for a while, not being able to come up with an answer.

“Do you like music?” he asked, changing the question.

“Yep,” he looked at me, asking me to carry on. “Urm, I like lots of different music.”

   “Like...”

“Promise not to laugh or make fun of me?”

“Why would I possibly make fun of you?”
