Celine reacted to his response with a nonchalant shrug. "Well, in that case, enjoy your evening," she remarked. Lorenzo replied in kind, "Likewise." I couldn't help but give him a fierce look, nodding slowly before deciding to walk away.

I tugged Celine with me, guiding her toward the nearest available table.

"Okay, let's get out of here," I insisted. Celine shot me a puzzled expression, asking, "Are you out of your mind? Lorenzo is here. You can't miss the action!" I sighed, took a seat at the table, and began sipping my drink absentmindedly, my gaze wandering around the hall until it landed on a familiar face...

"Natalie," I breathed her name, more to myself than to Celine. My heart skipped a beat as I watched her. She was engaged in a conversation with a group of people, her laughter ringing through the air. Seeing her at this extravagant event was nothing short of shocking. I did not expect to see her. and honestly, I was terrified of what she'd do if she saw me here.

Celine, noticing my sudden reaction, inquired, "Girl you ok? Have u seen a ghost or something? You look pale!", "Natalie is here," I whispered, my voice tinged with disbelief. Celine's eyes followed my gaze to where Natalie was, mingling with the crowd. "What in the world is she doing here?" Celine wondered out loud. I shook my head, still trying to process the unexpected sight of my former tormentor in this lavish setting. "I have no idea, but I never thought I'd see her at an event like this. It's surreal."

As we watched Natalie from a distance, a sense of unease settled over me. What if she recognized me? What if she decided to approach us? The last thing I wanted was a confrontation with the girl who had made my high school life a living hell. Celine must have noticed my apprehension. "Don't worry, Cinth," she reassured me, "she wouldn't dare cause a scene at an event like this."

With a sigh, I turned my attention away from Natalie and observed Mr. Gabriel engaged in conversation with Enzo. It was evident that Enzo was anxious, and the lines of pain etched across his face were hard to miss. I couldn't help but wonder about the conversation between father and son.

As Mr. Gabriel eventually walked away, the entire atmosphere in the room shifted. Suddenly, the mellifluous notes of slow music began to envelop the entire space, casting a spell of elegance and romance over the gathering. Couples started to gravitate towards the dance floor, their movements mirroring the graceful melodies that filled the air. It was a mesmerizing sight, a stark contrast to the turmoil that had unfolded earlier in the evening.

Amidst the enchanting melodies that now swept through the room, I noticed Lorenzo making an unexpected move. He approached Natalie, who was still engaged in conversation with her friends. Reluctantly, he extended his hand towards her, his face is expressionless, seemingly compelled by some unwritten social obligation, LORENZO himself inviting her?, quite an unexpected move from him

Natalie accepted Lorenzo's invitation with unwavering enthusiasm. Her eyes gleamed with a fervent joy, while Lorenzo's discomfort was palpable. Their dance lacked the harmonious grace of couples who were genuinely connected, and instead, there was an awkwardness to their steps. Lorenzo's reluctance was clear, even as Natalie clung to her illusions of his affection. My surprise and unease grew as I witnessed this unexpected and strained dance between Lorenzo and Natalie.

I leaned against the wall, a solitary observer of the enchanting scene before me. Couples twirled and swayed with the music, immersed in the magic of the moment. It was a captivating sight, and for a while, I relished watching others enjoy themselves.
