We worked silently for a while before he suddenly stopped and looked at me. ''That reminds me, you really need to stop messing my brother up.'' He stated seriously.
I paused my mixing since we had already mixed up the batter completely and looked at him. ''What?''
He leaned on the table to face me completely. ''Mason. You know, your delivery man.'' He confirmed.
''Ahh. Mason.'' I muttered remembering the previous night. It made me feel embarrassed all over again. I held my laughter. ''I'm messing him up?'' I questioned.
Zane let out a laugh. ''He literally asked me how old you were last night the minute he came home.'' He examined me. ''If I remember your birthday correctly considering Jayden always remembered and told me and Aksel, you're just barely older than him with what? Two, three months?''
The topic made a small smile grace my lips in amusement. ''Jayden remembers my birthday?'' I asked.
''If 'sister complex' was truly a thing, Jay's definitely suffering from it. Mason wishes I cared half as much for him as Jay does for you considering it's been years since you last saw each other." He grinned. "I'll have you know you're Mason's first crush. And he thinks you're like, three or four years older than him." He laughed to himself.
I couldn't deny the accuracy. And Jay remembering my birthday even after nine years made me feel happy and a little guilty for daring to forget him. ''You're right.'' I said before turning back to the cake, adding some more milk and mixing it. ''Please, don't tease him about it and... don't bother correcting him.'' I added. So he wouldn't think he had a chance with me and make efforts.
''And ruin my chances with you? Never!'' He declared passionately making me smile since he made it so obvious that he was joking. ''But in exchange for my silence, you have to tell me why you use the eyepatch to cover your right eye.'' He said making me pause my mixing and look at him.
''You said you wouldn't ask about it.'' I quietly reminded him feeling my heart thumping in my chest immediately at the question. "Besides, if Jay truly remembers everything about me, then he'd have definitely told you."
He shook his head. ''I said I would try not to. Besides, I'm not asking to see it.'' He said before pouting. ''Come on Jin, It can't be that bad of a reason.'' He pushed staring at me.
I looked down because his gaze reminded me of Mason and made me feel like he was already staring into my mismatched eyes. I felt defeated. ''They're supposedly not... pretty.'' I revealed.
<''You bad omen! Anytime you look at me, something horrible always happens.''
''I never want to see those eyes of yours again.''>
I blinked back to the present. Zane was looking at me in disbelief. He scoffed. ''Not pretty?'' He shook his head. ''There's no way the eye colors that Jay and Mason described to me aren't pretty.'' He folded his arms. ''Besides, I was almost sure that Mason was gay because of how uncaring he was towards girls. At least you've proven him innocent of his charges.''
I looked down thinking about it. There was no way he meant his words. He's probably just trying to be nice. It wasn't-
''Hey.'' He started making me look at him. He gave me a small smile. ''You don't need people to appreciate your features for you to know that you're awesome. You need to love them first for others to follow suit. You should matter most to you. You should be top priority to yourself.''
I looked at the cake batter and noticed that there were suddenly M&M's in it. Blinking in shock, I looked back to Zane to see him waving the empty packet to me while he threw a full one to me which I barely managed to catch.
