The time was around 11 p.m. Avoiding the dark parts of the forest, the young wizard followed the usual, well-known path illuminated by the light of the full moon.

At the end of the long road through the forest, two hills rose. Only a black castle with a tower and a balcony stood between the forest and the mountains. The castle was old, but it was never empty or deserted.

Only Lan wizards and witches lived there for centuries, far from the villages and other witches and wizards

Only Lan wizards and witches lived there for centuries, far from the villages and other witches and wizards. Over time, the castle's inhabitants declined and now only one wizard owned the place and looked after its legacies. The resident of the castle was not visited, and the wizard did not really seek the company of others. The shadow of loneliness hung around the walls, outside and inside.

Lan Wangji was almost at the end of the forest when his eyes caught on a tiny pink moth lying on a tree stump. The wizard walked off the road and to the tree, taking a closer look at the creature.

MothXian stood out among the dark branches with his shimmering and spreading pink cloak and wings, but even his beauty captivated the wizard

MothXian stood out among the dark branches with his shimmering and spreading pink cloak and wings, but even his beauty captivated the wizard. The beautiful color of the moth was overshadowed only by the gray earth, a little marsh-green-like dust, and the tiny pale red drops and streaks. Lan Wangji raised his hand and gently stroked one of the damaged wings of the moth with his index finger.

The previously unconscious MothXian opened his eyes tiredly

The previously unconscious MothXian opened his eyes tiredly. The gentle touch he felt on his wings was pleasing to his body tormented by the blows. When Lan Wangji lowered his hand, MothXian slowly raised his head. He tried to take a closer look at the handsome young figure in front of him, but his blurred vision limited him. He could not decide whether the figure was a friend or an enemy, so he began to focus on the color of the figure's clothes. Since he had never met a person wearing purple before, he was still at a loss as to what to do. He would have liked to fly away as soon as he saw the wizard, but unfortunately, that wasn't an option for him. In addition to being injured, he also felt too weak to fly or run. So he could only hope that the unknown figure would not hurt him.
