He looked at her for a second before he nodded and walked over to her, sitting next to her before he pulled her into his lap. She curled her head into the crook of his neck and sighed.

Neither of them spoke, they didn't need to, their relationship had drastically changed since they met, they both knew it, they both knew whatever was happening wasn't conventional but who cares.

"I overreacted" she mumbled

He smiled a little at the feeling of her lips brushing his neck as she spoke "no Katerina you didn't" he whispered as he placed a gently kiss to her forehead, for a moment he was silent before he gently ran his hand through her hair "Ivan was my first charge, a man I had been friends with for many years, we met at St.basils and much like you and mikhail we instantly became friends, we became family" he mumbled as he ran his fingers over her arm gently "I wasn't there the night he died, but I still felt the pain of loosing a brother, I know if he had come to me weeks later alive and well, telling me that it was all some training lesson I would have been pissed, so no Katerina, you didn't overreact, you went through that pain too, not just mikhail, all of this should be decided between the three of you, not just your father and mikhail"

For a moment she looked at him as she processed his words, as she took in everything he was saying to her before she nodded slowly "sometimes I think your the only one that listens to how I feel, I know it happened to mikhail but it also happened to me" she whispered

"I know baby" he whispered softly "I know, you need to talk to him about this, whatever happens I am on your side, always your side angel"

She closed her eyes as she laid against him "all of my happy memories have always included mikhail but lately every time I think of something happy your face appears or your face telling me someone" she smiled "I'm glad I met you Dimitri belikov"

He smiled as he looked at her "and I am very glad I met you Katherine Hathaway"

As their eyes met both of them couldn't help the smile that appeared on their faces "you are the reason I have enjoyed America" he whispered as he tucked her hair behind her ear

She smiled "what don't you like the food and the drinks and the fact that you can get an endless supply of your cheesy western novels"

She swore in that moment she saw him blush but just as quick as it was there it was gone "my western novels are not cheesy"

She giggled as she looked at them "they are dimka, they are cheesy, and bad but they make you smile when you read them" she whispered "usually when you read something you like the corners of your mother twitch slightly before you smile" she whispered as she ran her finger along his lip as drew out the shape of his smile

"When something makes you angry or sad the space between your eyebrows crinkle slightly" she whispered moving her fingers to the spot as she gently stroked it, "but then when you love something your smile is beaming, your eyes crinkle in the corners and eyes light up like the stars" she smiled as she looked at him

As she spoke he looked at her in shock "Katerina" he whispered, he was lost for words

"When you were speaking to your family I watched your smile go from the little one you give people that walk past you, to a full and wonderful smile, it was breathtaking to watch" she mumbled as she traced his jaw with her finger

"Now it's my turn to make a few comments about you if you don't mind sweet girl" he smiled as he kissed her hand gently

"Your fiesty, your incredibly strong, you will stand up to anyone no matter what position they are in, even if they are in a position of power over you, you always choose to do the right thing, you stand up to anyone and everyone that does or says something you do not like" he smiled as he gently stroked her cheek "even when life deals you the short hand and you go through so much pain your somehow still strong, still resilient, still amazing" he whispered as he laid his head on hers "meeting you has changed my life Katerina, it has made me question every single thing about my life, which is why I can't wait any longer" he smiled

She frowned softly "wait any longer for what" she whispered

He smiled and pulled her closer to him, their faces just inches apart, she could feel his breath on her lips, she could feel his hand on her waist and on her cheek "you, I can't wait any longer for you" he whispered as he moved his hand off her cheek and gently tangled it into her hair before he kissed her.

She wasn't prepared, for a moment she was frozen, until she felt him pull away, god knows she didn't want that, so she pulled him closer, deepened the kiss and held him like her life depended on it.

Magical is a useless word, a word that never accurately describes anything but Katherine Hathaway understood now why people called kisses from a loved one magical, right there in that moment hee entire body felt alive, like she had found her way home, his lips against hers were magical and she wanted more. So much more.
