"Sam Obysanya Spotted With Head Coach's Daughter" and a simple "???" message. Intrigued, Katie clicks on a link to an article suggesting that Sam is dating her after they were spotted in a photo. Even though the information was completely wrong, Katie felt there might be a problem. She texted Sam, sent him a link and wrote, "Damn the Brits," with a playful eye-rolling emoji.

Sam responded with a skull emoji, implying that the matter was simply laughable.

The next day was Richmond's most important match of the season against Manchester City. Katie, although not too optimistic, found herself cheering on the team in the stands at Wembley Stadium.

Although she expected the first goal to go to Manchester City, she remained hopeful. However, as the match progressed, Richmond's chances faded and the score increased to 5-0 in favor of Manchester City.

Katie felt a mixture of disappointment and pride for the players. Her gaze finally landed on Jamie, who seemed pained by the loss. Katie's initial instinct was to rush downstairs and give him the comforting hug he needed.

However, her plans backfired when reporters swarmed her and bombarded her with questions about Sam and the conspiracies surrounding them.

By the time Katie untied the papers and entered the locker room, the team had already left. Katie regretted not being able to comfort Jamie after such a painful loss.

As Katie left the stadium, she noticed a familiar figure sitting on the sidewalk, partially obscured. Recognizing Jamie, she texted her father that she might be home late and turned to Jamie.

Her first words to Jamie were, "He's an idiot," clearly referring to Jamie's father. Jamie smiled, albeit quietly, this time not trying to push Katie away. She seemed to welcome his presence and understand the feelings behind his words.

"You're lucky to have Ted," Jamie commented, looking off into the distance.

"Yeah, yeah, I know it," Katie agreed. She noticed a tear slide down Jamie's cheek, prompting her to wrap her arms around him and offer soothing back rubs. Katie had never seen Jamie cry before and felt emotional too.

"You know, Jamie, you're not just a great soccer player. You're so much more," Katie murmured softly. "I think a lot of people don't see the people behind the players and it's a shame they never get the chance. But I did. I got to see the real Jamie Tartt, maybe even more than Jamie Tartt. . After the events of Christmas, after all the fighting, I wondered if the person I saw was the real Jamie or just a lie. And I tell you the truth; you had me there for a while. Somehow neither of us found the person to spend our most memorable Christmas with. But... I think I found him."

Jamie met Katie's gaze, snorted quietly and asked, "So where is he?" Katie bent her head and removed Jamie's headband and Richmond's shirt one by one and tossed them aside.

"He's there," she said, a mischievous smile gracing her lips. "And there he is."

Jamie began to understand what Katie was thinking. She claimed that the qualities he thought defined him were only external. Katie told him that he wasn't just a football player; he was Jamie Tartt.

Jamie locked eyes with Katie, a soft and intimate connection formed. As their faces came closer, their lips finally met in a soft but passionate kiss, a moment Katie had been waiting for.

Their kiss was a testament to their unspoken bond that united them as Jamie, Katie, and the real Jamie and Katie they found.

The next morning, Katie couldn't get her mind off the kiss she shared with Jamie. It played in his mind and he couldn't help but smile at the memory. She was eager to get to work and was looking forward to seeing Jamie again. But nervousness crept in as I prepared for the day. Katie wasn't sure how to approach Jamie after their kiss. He struggled with whether to take a stand and see where their relationship could go, or ignore it and act like it never happened. Ignoring it didn't seem like the right choice for him, but he also knew that Jamie might have a different perspective. He was determined to respect her feelings and choices.

When Katie arrived at work, she was deep in thought, her eyes fixed on her phone screen as she walked down the hall. Lost in his reverie, he looked up and did a double take when he saw Jamie approaching. They both stopped in the narrow hallway and it was clear that Jamie was just as unsure of how to proceed as Katie.

"Hello," Katie greeted, her voice barely above a whisper as she struggled to find the words.

"Hello," Jamie replied in the same uncertain voice.

Katie smiled at him, words not needed at the moment and they continued awkwardly past each other. Communication with Katie continued throughout the day, even during the lunch break. Later that afternoon, Katie heard a knock on her office door. He closed the computer and looked up as Jamie poked his head in.

"Hey Katie. Can I talk to you for a second?" Jamie asked. Katie nodded eagerly, turning her full attention to him. His optimism was overshadowed by fear of the coming debate.

"Um... So last night," Jamie began, his words slow and careful. Katie's heart raced as she listened intently.

"Look, I think I should put this on. I don't just regret the kiss. I mean - honestly, I've made your life very difficult since you met me. I was bad, sometimes I even ignored you. I'm just...complicated. You've only been good to me and I know I don't deserve a drop. I think... what I'm trying to say... um. I think it might be better... if-if we don't go there. You deserve a lot better than me."

Katie felt her heart pound as Jamie spoke. She wanted to cry right then and there. Instead, she leaned back in her chair, took a deep breath and smiled reassuringly at Jamie, even as her eyes glistened with unshed tears.

"Okay," he said quietly. The room fell into a heavy silence. Jamie nodded and got up to leave, leaving the door open behind her. Katie walked to the door and gently closed it, leaning against it. She slowly slid to the floor, burying her face in her hands as she finally let herself cry.

Unknown to Katie, Jamie also wiped his face with the hood as he walked away from her. He wanted to be someone worthy of someone as wonderful as Katie, but he couldn't shake the belief that he never could.
