Here bubbles relates to a constrained human thoughts about different aspects/topics such as dark, light, grey and unknown side of ours, which goes on or remains in the subconscious mind.
These constrained thoughts are just like many micro-universes within themselves, connected to one another which expands through knowledge and experience. Inspite of being differently functioning they are part of a our brain, in which they reside in.
The brain of humans is compared to many universe here, as we all our different but still interconnected. And we all are living inside a huge conscious universe which is itself within a huge giant ball connected to another possibility of existence, and it's reach may be unknown from ours.
