15. Tomb Vampires

Damon walks inside Elenas house and over to the couch where I'm sitting.
"You're both ignoring me." Damon says looking at me.
"Six missed calls? Can't find my phone. Sorry." I say turning away from him.
"What do you want?"
"Is Stefan here?" He asks.
"No."
"He went hunting and didn't come home. I can't get him on his phone, I figured he was here with you."

Elena calls him.
"It's going straight to voicemail." She says. I walk over.
"Where could he be?" I ask.
"You're not gonna like what I'm thinking."

We wait in the car until we see Damon walk by. We both get out to meet him.
"What happened? Where is he?"
"They have him, I can't get in."
"Why not?"
"Because the woman who owns the house is compelled to not let me in." Damon says.
"I can get in." Elena says.
"No." I say grabbing her arm. "They'll recognize you if you look like Katherine. I though do not." I say starting to walk.

Damon grabs me and makes me look at him.
"You're not going in there." Damon says looking at me.
"Why are they doing this? What do they want with him?"
"Revenge."
"We have to do something."
"I know but I don't know how to get him out."

I look at the house.
"I can knock on the door and ask to use their phone. I'll say my car broke down. I can get you in." I say glancing at Damon.
"You're not going in there." Damon says. "But we know someone with a ring."
"Mr. Saltzman." Elena says.

The drive to the school isn't long.

Damon approaches him.
"You can't hurt me."
"Oh, I can hurt you alright." Damon says.
"Stop it, Damon." I say.
"Mr. Saltzman. We need your help." Elena says.

We explain the whole situation to him and he only agrees when Damon lies about his wife.

"Just let me in and I'll get Stefan out." Damon says.
"That's your plan, just go full killer mode?" I ask.
"I'll be stealthier than that, hopefully."

Elena and I both grab one of the vervain injections.
"Woah what are you doing?" Alaric asks.
"We're coming with." Elena says.
"No, no, no way."
"You need us."
"You'll get yourself killed." Damon says.
"We're going." I say.
"So when you get me in, get out as quickly as you can." Damon says to Alaric ignoring me.
"Fine. Elena I'll drive us. The unfortunate part is that we'll be weaponless."
"Fine. You can drive the getaway car." Damon says smiling. "You're not going in the house.
"You can't stop us." Elena says. I grab her arm and give her a look.
"I can't protect you if you go in." Damon says.
"Fine. We'll defend the car." I say.
"Perfect."
"Now if it comes to the car or my life which do I save?" I ask looking up at Damon.
"Let's go." He says grabbing my arm.

We drive there and park. Elena and I wait while they get out.

After a couple minutes I look over at Elena.
"Ric should be coming back any minute now. Let's go." I say. She nods pulling out the vervain syringes. She hands me one and I nod.

We get up the house as quickly as possible.
"We get Stefan out and go." I say. She nods. There's a staircase leading downstairs. I motion for Elena and we both run down. We get past the gate and try the door. Obviously it's locked.
"Get back." I say to Elena. She does and I use my elbow to shatter the glass and unlock the door.

We walk in carefully. Down the hall there's a vampire being held as guard.
"I got this." Elena mouths to me. I nod.

He gets up and starts walking towards us. Damon injects him and looks at us.
"Are you insane?"
"Save it." I say.

We walk down the hall and open the door to find Stefan being tied up and another vampire.
"You shouldn't be here." Stefan says to Elena.
"They were supposed to stay in the car." Damon says.

He goes to kill the vampire but Stefan stops him.
"Whatever let's get you down." Damon says going to the ropes.
"There's vervain on the ropes." Stefan mumbles.
"Human." Damon snaps.

I walk over and pull it while Elena helps stabilize Stefan.
"Let's go." Damon says while I follow after him.
"Can you get him in the car?"
"Yeah. What about you?"
"You rescue, I'll distract. Go." Damon says to the both of us.
"Don't get cocky." I say. He smiles before leaving.

We get him outside.

"Can you make it?" Elena asks Stefan before they fall.
"We have to keep going." I say helping carry Stefan.

We get to the car and put Stefan in.

Elena goes to start the car.
"Guys." She says. I look over and see a wire in her hand.
"Shit." I mutter looking around.

The glass shatters and Stefan gets dragged out. He starts hitting Stefan. He stabs Stefan.
"No!" Elena yells injecting him.

She runs to Stefan's side. He's unconscious.
"He needs blood Elena. He's too weak." I say as the guy starts waking up.

She gives him some of the blood on her wrist.
"Run." Stefan says.
"No. I trust you." She says.
"Elise, run. Find Damon."

I nod standing up.

I turn to the house and start running. I hear a noise behind me and turn pulling the syringe out. It's the vampire. He bites my neck. I scream while injecting him. He drops to the floor while I grab my neck feeling extremely dizzy.

I feel arms grab me. I see it's Damon. Alaric stabs the vampire.
"It hurts." I mutter.

Damon bites his wrist giving me blood. I feel the wound start to heal and take a deep breath.
"Let's go."

Damon drops everyone off at the Salvatore house before driving me to mine. I see a cop car.
"What the hell?" I mutter.
"What happened?" Damon asks.
"I don't know." I say running out and inside. Damon follows after me.

Moms crying on the couch.
"Mom?" I ask.
"Vicky's body was found." Sheriff Forbes says.
"No." I say shaking my head.
"I'm sorry." Caroline says hugging me.

I glance over at Damon who looks at me sadly.
"I'll see you later." He says. I nod pulling away from Caroline to hug my mom. She sobs into my shoulder.

After however long I go into my room. Damon's sitting on my bed.
"It must've been the storm. I'm sorry." Damon says hugging me.
